Do you ever find it amazing how so many in the SW fanbase reveal themselves as being complete trash as time goes on? I mean seriously, how much more of a fucking dumpster fire can a fandom possibly become?

Look, fandoms are made out of humans and I try never to fool myself about just how bad human beings can get. And somehow I still get disappointed.

To add on to what I was saying in that reply: Arkansas has a seat in the house and the Governor up for election this year. Both of the ones running for re election are Republicans. The Congressman has made commercial after commercial throwing tantrums about and slandering his opponent. The governor? Is literally suppressing his opponent. I’ve seen no ads, no flyers, nothing, I don’t even know the person’s name. I’m sure it can be found on google but you shouldn’t have to google this

This was probably a different state but I read about an opponent to a sitting Republican withdrawing her candidacy because of death threats and threats of budget cuts to her job. Large parts of the U.S. are no longer functioning democracies, if they ever were.

I was curious about the origins of the New Mandalorians and after some digging around I found out that Jason Fry created them in the 2009 SW book “The Essential Atlas”. I really hate Jason Fry and his trash writing.

Statute of limitations means Kavanaugh can’t face legal punishment for what he did because it was years ago, so the only thing he’d have to lose by admitting to assault is MAYBE a portion of his supporter base, and even then, if he met the very low bar of apologizing better than Trump and convincing people he had changed, he would have gotten that seat honestly if it were given to him. But instead we have a man who lied his way onto the Supreme Court.

I wanted Rey, Finn and R2 to be the Obi-Wan, Anakin and R2 of the sequel trilogy. BB-8 is great but he belongs with Poe. Who would form his own two-humans-and-a-droid trio with Rose, and when the two trips met they’d be unstoppable. The Jedi gang and the pilot gang. How cool would that be?

Instead R2 spent TFA unconscious and then largely disappeared from the action in TLJ. Where was that foul-mouthed bucket of bolts anyway, other than doing a little Blu-Ray playback to remind Luke his sister existed?

Good glory, they just made a brazenly partisan sexual assault accusee with anger issues a federal judge for life. Did anyone stop to think that Kavanaugh is going to be a problem for Trump’s successors, plural, for years to come? Jeez, Republicans, I want a pro-life Christian on the Supreme Court too, but why did you have to stick with THAT one? He certainly hasn’t acted very Christian through this whole process…

I am really, really hoping he’s going to be impeached for perjury and that’s what the Democrats were going for, at least as Plan B. If that doesn’t happen America is so fucked, man, not that it hasn’t been going on for decades already.

Kylo seems less sympathetic than MANY of the SW villains tbh. From what I’ve read on Maul, his childhood was apparently fucking horrible

I hoped for Rey Solo in part because it would make Kylo Ren a little more sympathetic and comprehensible in Vader’s mold, but nah. Turns out the guy is Palpatine Jr. with more whining.

What I don’t understand concerning Ro Laren and the other diaspora Bajorans is why there was never any mention of them returning or trying to return home, or that the Bajorans on Bajor were trying to bring them home and if not why not. Given how much Bajorans seem to be tied to Bajor via the Prophets and the Wormhole Star Trek’s complete lack of ever addressing this issue always galled me.

There are certainly a LOT of interesting Bajoran plotlines that went unexplored, including in DS9 which I think dealt the most extensively with Bajor. I would have liked more stories of their post-colonial experience, their politics, their culture, their identity, and yeah, their diaspora population instead of the pah-wraith stuff that dominated the final seasons. Unfortunately, with the ST reboot I doubt we’re getting more official materials about the Bajorans as we knew them.

I can’t believe Rian Johnson made such a divisive film on PURPOSE. Like honestly, if the fandom wasn’t toxic before, it is NOW, and if it was, why the FRACK would you throw gas on the fire?

I know U.S. Republicans are probably feeling really good right now, but am I the only one who thinks they’ve made a monumental blunder? By sticking with their nominee they’ve branded themselves yet again as the Party of Rape, they’ve fired up the anti-Republican voting and donations base, and they’ve tied themselves to a Supreme Court Justice who has repeatedly perjured himself and so has opened himself up to the possibility of being the first Justice to face impeachment since 1969. This is not good long-term thinking.
