Whenever I hear people complaining about the friendzone existing as a concept, it’s always “oh boo-hoo, you want to sleep with me and I don’t, get over it.” I mean that’s perfectly valid, but I’m deeply disturbed by the fact that most people– especially women– think friendship and sex are the only components to romantic love. Romance is deeper than sex. I’m not an asexual romantic but I’m sure they understand what I mean. I can’t find the words to explain that to people though.

I don’t think that’s what’s going on here, personally. I think the assumption on the part of these women is that a dude who complains about the friendzone is only interested in women for sex, and romance is unimportant to him because he’s only interested in women’s bodies. There’s an underlying thought process that romantic interest is somehow more wholesome and honorable than sexual interest in the absence of romance, and that saying a misogynistic guy is interested in romance as well as sex is giving him too much credit.

This is yet another subtle example of the deification of romantic love as something exalted and noble compared to sexual interest and friendship, and it leads to rampant demonization of aromantic people as dishonorable perverts and even potential rapists. As with all arophobic bias it’s unhealthy for alloromantic people, too, because romantic interest can be just as toxic and self-interested as sexual attraction but we end up cutting people way too much slack if their emotions are genuinely romantic. Romantic love is not some cure-all that saves people and changes lives, it is an urge like any other and as such is morally neutral in of itself. Stop attributing morality to romantic love 2k18

Now that’s a new one o_O Shit like this also exposes the lie that the “right” kind of women are not subjected to misogyny. What’s more the right kind of woman according to the patriarchy than a mother with a child? But nah, give the tiniest (or big, as the case may be) reminder that women’s bodies don’t exist for straight male gratification and men are mighty willing to knock moms off their pedestal into the gutter.

Zombies are rightists and vampires are leftists? That’s it, I’m writing a political comedy. Vampires arguing with zombies on the floor of Congress? That’s gold right there. Imagine the rallies and Facebook posts. I could even make a statement on extremism where center-leaning vampires and zombies look almost like or exactly like humans.

Zombies aren’t known for their eloquence though, are they? Would they be able to hold their own against vampires, who are stereotypically known as smooth talkers? In fact I would question the whole premise because to me zombies seem to suit the stereotype of the plebian leftist masses better, while vampires fit the mold of aristocratic parasites.
