I just want to congratulate the members of the dogpile – you’ve finally drawn a bona-fide “Patriot” to your ranks! It’s hard to miss it if you check the notes – it’s a bunch of rightwing cartoons + something about how they were warned about fascists like me.

Anyway, good job! They may never have found my lil post of it wasn’t for yall Making Tumblr Great!

One would think having company like that would be their “Are we the baddies?” moment, but I’m guessing it won’t be.

The alt-right is scary. I once engaged someone making antisemetic comments on a conservative page (at one point he even said something to the effect of the Holocaust being a good idea) and when I confronted him he said he was Jewish and his ancestors were Jewish so basically he knew better than anyone that Jews were scum and the world would be better off without them and I was like YIKES

So either seriously self-hating Jewish person or a faker? Either way, holy shit.

Unite the Right Organizer’s Dad Interrupts Livestream: ‘Get Out of My Room’

That is endlessly satisfying but I kinda wish he wouldn’t. One of these alt-right shitstains stabbed his own father to death last year over similar disagreements (link). These are by definition violently authoritarian people, though in most situations they’re dipshit cowards who talk big. Confronting them, to say nothing of publicly humiliating them, could be dangerous.

Unite the Right Organizer’s Dad Interrupts Livestream: ‘Get Out of My Room’

lj-writes:

You know, there are a lot of reasons The Last Jedi is objectively bad, but “modern art is bad because it rejects objective standards in favor of subjective self-expression” is not one of them. I won’t be posting the submitted video (link if you want to see it for yourself) because it’s intellectually dishonest in using a sheen of scholarly credibility to push a political agenda of modern Western cultural decadence. See a blog post that picks the video apart and particularly calls out the selective and misleading quote of art historian Jakob Rosenberg (link).

Ironically, Rosenberg was born in Germany and was fired as part of the purge of Jewish curators in 1937 before he immigrated to the United States (link, see page 3 of PDF), where he spent the rest of his career teaching art history at Harvard University and as a curator at the Fogg Art Museum (link). He was, in other words, a target of exactly the kind of rhetoric that blamed the decadence of the modern West on international intellectuals and makers of culture. He did not deserve to have his name associated with this shit. Seriously, anyone harping on the good old days of Western civilization  activates my fight-or-flight response.

Oh look, Hitler’s well-known hatred of modern art and how degenerate it is! (Link, link, link, link, link) Here’s one from a site that’s actually sympathetic to his views and talks about “the societal effects from modern art’s
inversion and destruction of beauty” (link via donotlink).

And before anyone tries to put words in my mouth, I’m not saying anyone who doesn’t like modern art is a Nazi. If you like classical art more than modern art, more power to you! There’s a universe of works you can love and enjoy. Whether your reasons are critical or pure taste, that is entirely your prerogative.

What’s insidious and intellectually dishonest is not the failure to enjoy modern art, it’s the lie that modern art doesn’t have objective standards behind it and represents a fall from some mythical heyday of Western civilization. You can agree or disagree with the standards and theory behind modern art all you like, but you can’t simply ignore and distort the reams of theory to push an agenda  of modern decadence. That’s what I object to, the dishonesty of this rhetoric and the horrific ends it has been used for and could potentially be used for again.

…oh really?

I’ll just leave this here.

Considering the holiday, esp with how literally everyones sidenote is Jews don’t celebrate it they celebrate that other one Kwanzaa/Hannukah (no really most people don’t know which they just know ones Jewish or assume they’re both the same thing), I think it’s safe to give him benefit of the doubt here and that he’s literally not trying to be mean y’all are just ridiculous and don’t realize how uninformed and stupid (even if we’ll meaning) the populace actually is.

As to why he didn’t go generic I’d again like to restate the populace is fucking stupid including the we’ll meaning ones.

Nice of you to extend benefit of the doubt on behalf of Jewish people when you’re not the intended target here. /sarcasm

Especially as you can’t tell the difference between Kwanzaa and Chanukkah, one being a secular Jewish holiday aggressively celebrating anti assimilation and the other being an African-American holiday that has nothing to do with Jewish people, Jewish holidays or Christmas.

I leave you to figure out which is which.

You and Rian have a lot in common. Such as not knowing when to sit down and shut up so the world doesn’t learn how stupid you are. But nah, gotta run your mouths both of you and enlighten the whole world to the scope of your ignorance.

Here’s a fun fact for you and Rian both. Two thirds of the world isn’t Christian and doesn’t celebrate Christmas. Of the over 4 billion people who do not celebrate Christian, Jewish people constitutes a tiny, tiny fraction.

Like 0.01% of them to be more precise.

There’s no reason at all to make us a special target unless you just hate Jews.

Next time buddy, don’t extent benefits of the doubts for attacks on a group you’re not a part of. You have nothing worthwhile to say about it anyway and you just prove yourself to be an asshole.

Final pro tip for you. If you do something stupid or harmful your intention doesn’t fucking matter. If you’re a decent person you own up, apologize and don’t do it again. And we all move on.

Unfortunately most people aren’t decent and stumble at step one or step two. So we never get to step three or further.

But stay happy in your ignorance. You seem more comfortable with that than you know, actually learning something and moving on.

Seriously, if he was going to acknowledge everyone who doesn’t celebrate Christmas the list would have included Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, Sikhs, Jainists, Wiccans, Asatru.. really more than the Twitter character limit can contain, and most of them more numerous than Jewish people. It’s a signal that alt-righters responded to when they came onto RJ’s comments with outright antisemitism. Maybe that was his clue that he’d put his foot in it, because I understand this tweet was deleted well ahead of the recent purge.

Kylo Ren really is a great example for how sci fi/fantasy writers should tailor their worlds to fit the times, so it could resonate with the actual audience reading them. There would be no point in making a Hitler villain anymore, because we’re not afraid of Hitler, we’re afraid of the 25-year-old malcontented white boy who fondles Hitler memorabilia while sulking in his room.

Somebody pointed out to me that the First Order aren’t coded as Nazis, they’re coded as neo-Nazis, which is worse, because these are people who looked at horrific historical atrocities with the benefit of hindsight and went, ‘Yes, that’s exactly what we should do again, but this time more’

People complaining that Starkiller Base is a rip-off of the Death Star and that Kylo Ren is a whiny emo fanboy don’t realize that this is exactly the point

I like the reading but a big part of me thinks that these weren’t intended. The Force Awakens came out in 2015, which means it was probably written in 2014, and frankly I don’t think Disney execs (and probably the writers) were aware of the growing threat until 2017.

The script writers for The Force Awakens are Jewish, and wrote the script in a way that really reflected Jewish views of the Nazis as opposed to normative Gentile American views, and which drew heavily on the Jewish collective memories of the Holocaust, something I discuss at length here: [Link]. The Jewish community has in fact been very aware of the rising tide of explicit white supremacy on the Right for a long time, and like many other minority communities, we were (and are) afraid and not exactly quiet about it. The only people who were really taken unawares were white gentiles, something the writers were not. I think it’s almost insulting to suggest that Jewish people writing topical Nazi and neo-Nazi coded villains is somehow unintentional.

if someone says “degenerate” there is a 93% chance they are a neo-nazi

neo-nazi buzzwords:

  • referring to minorities as a dehumanised collective (i.e “the blacks” instead of “black people”, “the jews” instead of “jewish people”, “the gays”, “the illegals” etc. etc.)
  • “cuck” “normie” “liberal snowflake”
  • “deus vult my friends”
  • “Is he /our guy/ ?” or any variation of the /our guy/ meme
  • “red-pill” or “alt-right” (in regards to someone’s political stance)
  • holocaust denial in any way shape or form (from flat out it didn’t happen to any kind of attempt to minimise/normalise the crimes of the nazis through spreading false facts or making jokes about it)
  • using the concept of triggers in a comedic way
  • talking about “alpha” and “beta” males
  • “anti-racism = anti-white” / “this is anti-white propaganda” / “white pride worldwide”
  • “multiculturalism = white genocide”
  • “islamization of america/europe”, “eurabia”
  • glorious (when applied to a political figure or nation)
  • 14/88, “the 14 words”, or any variation of them
  • symbols: the celtic cross, the two lightning bolts side to side, obviously the swastika and all of its variations (here is a link to the anti-defamation league’s comprehensive guide to identifying hate symbols)
  • “im a race realist”
  • talking about cultural marxism as if it’s an actual thing
  • “preserving the future for white children” (anything that evokes images of white children being in need of saving from the imagined threat of white genocide)
  • “why are only white countries asked to be multi-cultural” ignoring the overwhelming presence of white people in the americas, oceania and south africa
  • citing false statistics about difference in IQ amongst ethnic groups

neo-nazis are currently on a campaign to rebrand and repackage themselves to win over more mainstream support. this has resulted in the emergence of the “alt-right” as a legitimate political body, to push back against neo-nazism we have to identify it where we see it. if you see someone online using any of the terminology listed above there is a good chance that they are part of the burgeoning group of white supremacist who are using online platforms and cloaked language to disperse their hatred to a wider audience. be aware and be vigilant.

side note: incase the neo-nazis on this site co-opt this post and turn it into a “tag urself” of some sort im gonna pre-emptively say, with all my heart, i hope you choke

I’m seeing a bunch of people in notes being like “oh I use some of these words and jokes and I’m not a nazi,” and you know what? Maybe you’re not. But nazis use those memes and jokes and symbols, whether you support them or not. So, expect to be mistaken for one now and again.

nokiabae:

The alt-right is falling apart. Richard Spencer says it’s not “fun” anymore and is considering suspending his speaking tours amidst low turn out numbers.

One of their leaders, Matthew Heimbach (communismkill’s ex-boyfriend), was engaged in an affair with another leader’s mother in-law which led to major infighting.

Their forums are getting shut down thanks to leaks obtained by antifa groups. As well as planned events being pulled out because they’ve been consistently opposed and usually outnumbered by antifa counter-protesters.

Doxing racists work. They’re terrified of going to events and several of them are being charged with hate crimes and even attempted murder.

Antifa needs a lot more credit for fragmenting a group that at it’s peak in Charlottesville was engaging in a race war. We can’t keep moralising the point of Antifa but instead we should look at the bigger picture, which is that the resurgence of public antisemitics, race science and xenophobia should be met with an equal amount of retaliation
