As someone told Rainy: good writers don’t need to justify themselves on Twitter. Forget “good,” any creator with the minimal fucking level of shame doesn’t go around saying “To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand my work…” Creators speak through their work. If it didn’t work for some part of the audience then it didn’t work for them, and the creator failed or there was a style clash. You accept it and move on, you don’t go full-on fragile manchild and try to argue fans out of their reactions. This guy is so pathetic and whiny, no matter he wanks it full-time to Kylo Ren.

I think this kind of encapsulates the schism in this fandom: reylos literally do not understand that it’s not A Ship War to us.

But like, I think they just GENUINELY don’t comprehend that we don’t hate Kylo Ren, the fictional character, per se, we hate Kylo Ren, the symbol of every tiki-torch bearing real murderous, dangerous man who exists right now, potentially being validated by the biggest franchise in cinema. I don’t give a shit about whether Kyle gets to orgasm. that’s never been the point. I literally only care that all the Tom Horvaths and Richard Spencers and Elliot Rodgerses out there who look at Kyle as the rightful hero in this world do not get told, yet afuckinggain, that they’re right, and that women and Jews and Latinx immigrants and Black people and Asian people are extendable set dressing, at best, or unworthy garbage villains, at worst, in their quest to retake what they think they’re entitled (the galaxy).
Like, this just underscores that reylos literally genuinely just don’t know how to understand that it isn’t a ship war. It’s also not that fucking heinous new fandom thing where fandom is about being “correct in your predictions” or whatever. We’re not out here screaming because we want to convert them to our ships or believe our theories. We’re out here screaming because we want the biggest franchise in cinema to remember that we (and Rey, Finn, Poe, Rose, and Leia) are HUMAN BEINGS WHO DESERVE TO BE ALIVE.
