I think it’s completely reasonable. Starting from OT onward some of the best lines and developments came from other people shutting him down and sometimes actors just outright refusing to say his lines and making up their own. He got too big for people to argue with him in PT, and arguably this started even in RotJ. He’s a great worldbuilder and creator but not the best director or writer, and he should have listened to others to shore up his weaknesses.

“Chuck Wendig says he was removed from the ‘Shadow of Vader’ series with two issues left unwritten over the “negativity and vulgarity” his tweets bring” “Star Wars writer Chuck Wendig claims Marvel fired him for “vulgarity” and “too much politics” on his social media”
I’m kinda happy about that because I don’t like Wendig or his writing a whole lot, but on the other hand I’m wondering if he’s been targeted by right-wing trolls like Gunn was.
Um… am I the only one who feels uncomfortable about that fact that Poe’s ex is… a fish?
Wat
Sorry, this is… I laugh with you calling the brazilian guy bolo men, because bolo in portuguese is cake
I HAVE DISHONORED THE GOOD NAME OF CAKE
Idk about the Poe stuff but Trevorroe did say that about wanting to be true to the original series and a lot of people took it to mean him focusing on. Like, Rey and Kylo. This was before the extent of TLJ’s shit was known. But I mean a LOT of people were angry at that which is why people were happy he got canned. Why else did people think fans of color for the most part didn’t like him?
I didn’t even know about that other stuff, I dislike him for Jurassic World 😂
Ah. I didn’t intend for Ray to ACTUALLY be better than Finn in every way, but for him to believe she was, because Before the Awakening showed him to be insecure, even though Phasma considered him the best. That’s something to fix for the next draft. Thanks for your feedback! All of it is very helpful and eye-opening. (rktho)
Yeah, I figured you were working more with a young man’s insecurities than trying to put Finn down. I’m glad my comments were helpful!
Even if JJ Abrams wanted del toro or Michael Pena to play Khan still isn’t okay because Khan is “a character explicitly described in the episode script of Space Seed as being Sikh, from the Northern regions of India” (via racebending site). Benicio del Toro and Michael Pena are latinos.
The precedent that they were probably trying to emulate was Ricardo Montalban as Khan in the 1982 movie–which was also whitewashing, by the way, as Montalban was a Mexican actor born to Spanish immigrant parents.
When did Trevorrow say Poe was his favorite and hinted he liked Damer*y?? Just want to know ?
I don’t think there are any sources for that assertion so far, so I think we can safely say this is bunk.
Ok, I’m not defending Colin in any way, shape, or form here, but he NEVER said any of that. This has been going on for months where people are making weird shit up about him and his fictional affinity for Poe all because of one article that attributed—as in, guessed it was the reason—the supposed TLJ rewrite focusing on characters like Poe to Colin. No source for that, no source for there even having been a script rewrite to focus on Poe in the first place.
Yeah, I’m not finding sources either, so unless there are some I’m calling bs on Colin the Doomerey.
What are your issues with my fic? (rktho)
There were the parts where the Stormtrooper cadet Ray pushes Finn aside to run ahead, and where she’s said to be better than him in almost every way. Also his feelings are highly one-sided and we see little evidence that Ray has feelings for Finn or has even treated him nicely. You were probably not aware but these are all common tropes about Finn that fans of color have expressed dislike for.
I was also disturbed that Zeroes, who is a Black guy in Before the Awakening, was described as particularly brutal to the point of wasting ammunition on already-downed simulated opponents. Zeroes’ actual character in BtA is much more cerebral, an intelligence operative type who notices everything that goes on around him and never misses an advantage.
I do like the chilling premise that Stormtroopers were being made to kill their parents by proxy through training simulations, and while the relationship between FN-2119 “Ray” and the Rey that Finn eventually meets is not clear to me I’m guessing her father did something to get her away from the FO. It’s an interesting premise and I encourage you to develop it for sharing from your own account or at archives like AO3.
