So according to Wookiepedia, “When the Porgs overheard Rey refer to Chewbacca as ‘Chewie’, they mistook it to be the word ‘Chewy’, leading them to wonder whether Chewbacca would be her food”. So while the children’s books for TLJ & the Forces of Destiny cartoon had Chewbacca play with the Porgs, the movie had Chewbacca attempt to eat a possible sentient creature that knew Galactic Basic and the concept of loss.

Galactic Basic is English? Oh galaxy honey, you could have done so much better.

Any group of gentiles has a propensity for antisemitism. Definitely, the Nazis weren’t socialists, but the Soviet Union was horribly antisemitic as well. That’s why any solution to bigotry that focuses on a group of people being the sole perpetrators of that bigotry (like Christians, Right-Wingers, etc.) ignores how common bigotry is in the opposite groups when practiced by privileged people (white gentile Atheists, rich Left-Wingers, etc., respectively). (Moth)

I suspect that’s why Nazis get played up so much as a Special Kind of evil. It helps other them from the other nice white Gentiles, and it doesn’t do to admit that their bigotry is rather mundane in the West and baked into the entire project of an all-white, all-Christian Europe/U.S. etc.

‘The last jedi is about moving on from the past” oh its also definitely not about shitting on women and black men for being co protagonists of the movie and reclaiming tropes and rhe past that seen as for white men. And fucking over Rey and Finn’s and other characters personalities. Being sarcastic. Sometimes wanting the past can be a good thing like maginalized people trying to reconnect with their people’s past

It is just so unbelievably oblivious, not understanding–or wilfully ignoring–how important a connection to cultural nostalgia can be for less-represented groups. It’s like white women declaring that male-female romance is boring and regressive the moment Black women are in the role of the soft and cherished love interest, especially to a white male lead.

According to the Andaman Director of the General Police, the guy wasn’t even a missionary, but just “an adventurer.” Although, I wouldn’t doubt he would try to paint his intentions as being religiously inspired, and he may have fooled himself.

He was willing to kill a whole island of people of communicable diseases, whether in the name of adventure or his God. I just hope his body won’t be hazardous to the islanders.
