If you do know the history you also know these religions diverged well over a 1,000 years ago (more like 2,000 for Judaism and Christianity) and have evolved in different directions ever since. Christians assuming that Christianity and Judaism are similar or interchangeable, and that their faith represents a new and better version of Judaism, is an inaccurate and harmful idea that has been the basis for demonizing and erasing Jewish people.
I suspect that’s why Nazis get played up so much as a Special Kind of evil. It helps other them from the other nice white Gentiles, and it doesn’t do to admit that their bigotry is rather mundane in the West and baked into the entire project of an all-white, all-Christian Europe/U.S. etc.

Hitler was right in his fear of Communists I guess 😂 (Though it was really Russia that beat the Germans back, not Stalin.) I read a book about Berlin near the end of the war and how desperate Nazi officials were to surrender to the West before the USSR got to them. The Allies were all hemming and hawing uhhh maybe idk while Stalin’s forces single-mindedly marched toward Berlin spitting blood and hate.
