Any group of gentiles has a propensity for antisemitism. Definitely, the Nazis weren’t socialists, but the Soviet Union was horribly antisemitic as well. That’s why any solution to bigotry that focuses on a group of people being the sole perpetrators of that bigotry (like Christians, Right-Wingers, etc.) ignores how common bigotry is in the opposite groups when practiced by privileged people (white gentile Atheists, rich Left-Wingers, etc., respectively). (Moth)

I suspect that’s why Nazis get played up so much as a Special Kind of evil. It helps other them from the other nice white Gentiles, and it doesn’t do to admit that their bigotry is rather mundane in the West and baked into the entire project of an all-white, all-Christian Europe/U.S. etc.

re your Poe meta post: EXCUSE YOU???? WHO GAVE YOU THE FREAKING RIGHT? You broke my heart and sent me in a Dameron family feels spiral, are you happy? I hope you are, because now I am going to retaliate with fics. You asked for this. This is entirely your doing. [insert mandatory Soraya meme-jpg]

(Does this mean I’m going to be killed in Spanish?)

Oh no! Not Familia Dameron fics! That is by no means exactly the response I wanted, have mercy please!!

The terrible meta in question

‘The last jedi is about moving on from the past” oh its also definitely not about shitting on women and black men for being co protagonists of the movie and reclaiming tropes and rhe past that seen as for white men. And fucking over Rey and Finn’s and other characters personalities. Being sarcastic. Sometimes wanting the past can be a good thing like maginalized people trying to reconnect with their people’s past

It is just so unbelievably oblivious, not understanding–or wilfully ignoring–how important a connection to cultural nostalgia can be for less-represented groups. It’s like white women declaring that male-female romance is boring and regressive the moment Black women are in the role of the soft and cherished love interest, especially to a white male lead.

According to the Andaman Director of the General Police, the guy wasn’t even a missionary, but just “an adventurer.” Although, I wouldn’t doubt he would try to paint his intentions as being religiously inspired, and he may have fooled himself.

He was willing to kill a whole island of people of communicable diseases, whether in the name of adventure or his God. I just hope his body won’t be hazardous to the islanders.

The most I can say for FB2 is if you fixed everything wrong with it it wouldn’t be a completely different film. Then again JK Rowling has shown herself capable of writing good stories, unlike a certain avant-garde director hired to write a Star Wars film.

Rowling’s a better writer for sure, but the more she tries to stay in the public eye the more the flaws in her perception–and even the originals–stand out.

Oh by the way I noticed the post about the missionary was tagged “white savior complex”, and while I would agree it applies in spirit, technically the missionary was not actually white. He was Chinese.

Yeah, his name was John Allen Chau. I think it applies, though, because he bought into the exact same harmful myth. Much like nonwhite people can be white supremacists and white feminists, they can be white saviors as well.
