I support them either way!

White Americans give their kids names like Mackayleigh, Maverix, Abcde (AB-si-dee) and such. What are some Korean names that sound stupid to native speakers?
Inordinately long names which showed up a few decades ago before they mercifully faded away, like 우주에서지구를감싸는우정 (”friendship hugging the Earth tight from space”) and so on. Then there are names that make general nouns in conjunction with the family name, like 민들레 (”daffodil”) or 오리온 (”Orion”). The latter naming convention can be seen in K-Dramas, especially the more comical ones, precisely because it’s so goofy and unrealistic. This is distinguished from names that are general nouns on their own, which are more acceptable–a name like 김사랑(Kim Sarang, Sarang being the Korean word for “love”) doesn’t sound silly, it just makes people think your parents are either devoted Christians or leftist hippies. If you have a name like Chanmee (”praise”) or a Biblical name like “David” despite living in Korea then it’s a very good bet that your parents are devout churchgoers.
I saw guardians of the galaxy 2 and James Gunn’s treatment to Mantis was terrible. His racism and sexism still is recent (and Gamora was called “green whore”)
He seems like a pretty garbage dude even aside from the gross pedophilia stuff.
The Venom symbiote is obviously Slytherin, but is Eddie Brock a Hufflepuff, a Gryffindor, or a fellow Slytherin? Discuss.
I’ll open this to the floor since I haven’t seen Venom.
Winston Churchill once said something to the effect of, “if you’re not a liberal you have no heart, and if you’re not conservative you have no brain.”
If you’re Winston Churchill you have neither heart nor brain.
Chuck Wending got fired for “politics” on twitter. Trolls at it again…
Fire him for being a bad writer and annoying white liberal lol. Cussing out Kavanaw supporters was the least of his crimes.
Wending thinks TLJ is god’s gift to Star Wars and that everyone who hates it is a racist, misogynistic fanboy. And he’s a J*mes G*nn defender too. Sorry I’m crying no tears over him getting fired and I even like the Aftermath books. But he’s one of those fake woke, white people who spends his time telling everyone how woke he is while never listening to the minorities he claims to be defending.
You put my problems with him more succinctly than I could. How ironic that he’s been Gunn’d himself, eh? That said, I do appreciate that he openly hates Trump and hate that the alt right are going to chalk this up as a victory.
Re: Khan. He’s clearly stated in TOS to be Sikh and from Northern India. So yeah the TOS casting was kinda fucked too because brown people aren’t interchangeable, but Khan sure as hell was never white.
Ricardo Montalbán was white, too, since his parents were from Spain. Or at least of European descent–I know whiteness is fluid and contingent and ppl from the Mediterranean regions have a bit of an asterisk attached to their whiteness, especially when they also came from Latin America like Montalbán did. But yeah, he was no more an Indian Sikh than I am lol.
See I’ve noticed something about Disney: they act like they’re bigger than god and then they make mistakes. I mean look at Star Wars right now. If it doesn’t bounce back, what will they do?
Cry to the tune of “I wasted $4 billion?”
I know people worry about Disney getting too big but even still, if Disney continues to make mistakes and fire people, it could come back to hurt them. Not to mention they want to be appealing to creative people too.
It’s not like creative people will start turning Disney down because of its terrible policies, especially as it becomes the only game in town. They’ll just fit themselves into Disney’s boxes. That chilling effect is what I’m worried about.
