I love a good villain arc lol. Incidentally the my own WIP is something of a Reylow subversion, though not originally intended as such. When my heroine finally accepts the truth that her boyfriend is a war criminal she drops his ass and becomes his steadfast enemy. I want to show a war criminal who can be inspiring and charming, who inspires devotion and love in people, and also commits awful crimes for his noble cause.

“is that an anti-white talking point? Do you think the actions of the Nazis generalize to all white people, and that white people should be killed as a result?” — of course it is and yes, lots of people do? we’ve got uncounted blogs proudly proclaiming thigns liek “white genocide now” etc. i mean i’m not saying white people are in any way marginalized, but sure there’s enough “kill them all” sentiment going around.
The difference is that they remain fringe loons who do not have the backing of state systems, social bigotry, and market machanisms to turn their revenge-fueled fantasies into reality. The most potent and mainstream application of “white genocide” is as a white supremacist talking point and white persecution fantasy. You want to compare some shitty blogs of questionable provenance to mass incarceration, forced separation of families, housing discrimination, educational discrimination, job discrimination, state violence, forced sterilization, environmental racism and a litany of other realities designed to kill off marginalized groups and grind their lives down for profit? GTFO.
WTH is that anon talking about? None of those celebrities have ever even talked about SW, let alone Reyelo lol
I did a little googling, not much, but evidently the Capri Sun official account replied when prompted that it would be honored to be the official drink of Reylows, and Chance the Rapper liked a tweet that showed reylows freaking out about this or that? Idk.
I have a love triangle in my book where the girl isn’t interested in either of the guys. One of them respects that. The other… doesn’t, to put it mildly. Guess which one is an expy of Kylo Ren.
Kylo Ren is toxic masculinity personified.
That reylo stabbing scenario is pretty much what happened in that BBC Robin Hood adaptation. The writers did everything to show that Gisborne was a creepy entitled fuck, including having him trying to force marriage & ending w/him stabbing her to death after she told him she was gonna marry Robin. Despite this, Gisborne/Marian was highly romanticised & very popular in the fandom. It’s disgusting and disturbing how much fandoms will excuse for an ostensibly attractive white guy
We are conditioned to see entitled and violent behavior by men as love. It’s one of the many ways abusive men protect themselves.
Genocide can do strange things to people. There was this group of Jewish partisans called Nakam that planned mass revenge killings of Germans after the war; while this sounds like an anti-Semitic fantasy, and has been used to prop up such, Wikipedia says they existed.
Wikipedia also tells me the Nakam caused zero known deaths and were incompetent buffoons whose murderous plans were, most likely, sabotaged by other Jewish people or their own bumbling ways. Why would their existence be an antisemitic talking point? The Nazis killed six million Jewish people, is that an anti-white talking point? Do you think the actions of the Nazis generalize to all white people, and that white people should be killed as a result? Murderers–including inept would-be murderers in the Nakam’s case–exist in every group of people, but I can’t help but notice their actions are generalized to their racial/ethnic group only when they belong to marginalized groups.
People who claim Finn was always supposed to be secondary to Rey are mistaken. But secondary to Kylo?! That’s a no. This is why I will never forgive Rian Johnson. He was so eager to pull his pud to Kylo that he let these people think they were completely right about “Ben” being the male lead. Rian’s “both sides of the protagonist” remark should have made him eligible to be ball-kicked on sight.
Of all the harm RJ did, emboldening and validating the racists in SW fandom may be the worst. Let’s see if JJ bears him out, because if he does then I am done with JJ and SW in general.
I told my brother about the storeroom. He still doesn’t get it.
I mean who can comprehend that level of shittiness?
Finn was left in a storage room? JFC what is the matter with people? It’s already bad but when you compare to the way Kylo’s little boo boo was treated on screen it’s just so much worse. Poor John, I can’t even imagine what must have been going through his mind when he read that in the script and having to actually film it? Ugh.
He’s a professional who did his job and did it well regardless of how he felt, but the way his enthusiasm dropped off was kind of obvious. I feel for him and truly hope Episode IX will be a vast improvement–not only over TLJ, which goes without saying, but TFA as well.
Do you think John is handsome? I’m jus at a loss why people would say he’s ugly? I dislike Adam Driver as a person but I don’t think he’s ugly …
Do I think John is handsome. Lemme think…

Hmm

HMM

Um, I think…

I think… uhh…

I mean I’m the freak who’s written shit like this:

(link)
YES, I think he’s handsome!!! He is so attractive I feel a guilty at how hot I find someone who is still so baby-faced, and one of the pleasures of growing old will be for him to break 30-40 and look more mature so I can thirst even more openly for him. (We all know that’s why you’re waiting to do a movie with him where you’re the love of his life, Lupita. I feel you, girl, minus the part where I do a movie where I’m the love of his life.)
Look, people who think John is ugly are racist. Full stop. I’m not talking about not being attracted to him, not finding him to your personal tastes or whatever, but if you think he’s not an attractive man by the usual social metrics? That people outside of niche tastes can’t find him attractive? That’s racist, plain and simple, because it is objectively, DEMONSTRABLY not true and has no other basis than him being a dark-skinned African man.
