Korean-Chinese Bellatrix would have been amazing. I imagine pureblood families would have to be interracial, holding the purity of magical birth over the purity of ethnicity. Prejudice so deep it swallows all others. Meanwhile, those who don’t care about magical blood stay racially homogeneous due to their biases not being crowded out by open hatred, showing even ‘unbigoted’ people can have prejudices.

I wonder if wizards would care about the Muggle concept of race at all? It would be interesting if ideological purebloods replaced one bigotry for another, as you posit.

I didn’t even notice the connection to toxic masculinity. It fits so well. He’s elderly, but his body is 60 (the equivalent of thirty for his species— old enough to be a man and not a youth, but young enough to be in prime physical condition.) He craves power and domination (and he’s already an emperor) and has a magic ring he can secretly hurt people with to stop them from finishing their sentences.

So part of his power is literally interrupting people? Embodiment of toxic masculinity confirmed 😂

Are you into any of the Legends Star Wars stuff? You mentioned the apprentice being a worse person than the master being a cool concept. You should check out the Darth Plagueis novel. Sidious was a fucking monster even as a teenager and while Plagueis is a bastard himself, I bet you’d end up liking him more than Palpatine

I only knew of Plagueis as a meme 😂 It looks like history repeated itself with Kylo & Snoke.

I’m a demiromantic but I’ve only ever had one (1) person be romantically attracted to me and we knew each other for less than week so yeah don’t know how that’s going to work out because usually by the time I realize I’ve fallen for someone I’ve already embarrassed myself and gotten myself friendzoned, which my dumb self never realizes and I end up digging my grave deeper and alienating them for good

Aww, that sounds very hard. 😦 It looks like better social interaction skills would be key for you to have romantic relationships in the future. It gets better with time and practice!

Look up yesimhotinthis on Instagram. She draws comics about being a Muslim in America. It’s hilarious AND informative for people who don’t know very much about Islam, and for those who do, there’s bilingual bonuses and religion jokes and stuff. It’s based on her life, but in addition to her husband and mother, she also has some fictional characters (some based on real people) such as her psychiatrist, Darius the FBI agent (he’s my favorite 😂) and Susan the well-meaning white woman.

I AM HOOKED. Her style is so cute and the content is so relateable! This strip about allyship was deeply moving and matches advice I’ve seen about how to support people in situations where hate is on public display (link). And lentil soup (link)! I squeed because I made lentil soup this morning, too, though I use bacon. This comic is soooo funny and insightful, thanks for the rec and I heartily recommend it to others!

Recorded in response to this anon: “Do you speak English often? What’s your accent like? Is it a Korean accent? American? English? A mix?”
