Anidala Anon: I actually don’t think Anidala and Reylo are comparable in their entirety or in many thematic ways. I was just curious of your own beliefs/interpretation. If Reylo does end up being canon (who knows what JJ will do), I think it would stand alone from Anidala, and for good reasons. A complete redemption of Ben Solo would absolutely have to occur, and he would have to want it and achieve it on his own. I am not here for Rey having to fix anyone or anything. Thanks for answering!

My problem with that scenario is that it would make Episode IX entirely about Kylo, with everyone else playing second fiddle while he undoes the developments of the past two movies. Kylo already made it abundantly clear what exactly he wants, it would be a hell of a course correction for his desire to completely change. I also find the character being so centered unlikely when J.J. pretty much called him a neo-Nazi, a group I doubt he has warm and fuzzy feelings for.

And if Kylo does repent and crawls to Rey’s doorstep begging for forgiveness, why would she take him? He’s still the man who tortured her, used her to gain power, tried to kill all her friends, and emotionally abused her. What exactly does he offer her? I never get a real answer when I ask this question.

Anyway, thanks for stopping by. Have fun.

Same anon as before: What in the film’s makes you think their relationship was over (again, genuine question)? Padme’s final words were “Obi-Wan… there… is good in him. I know there is… still—” before she died of a broken heart. When Anakin/Vader realizes she is dead, he screams in anger. Does that make you think their relationship is over and they no longer love each other?

They may have still loved each other for what each had once been to the other, but there was no relationship there anymore. People who have feelings for each other split up all the time because it’s not working. Like, what about Anakin choking a pregnant Padmé and her literally dying of grief made you think there was anything functional between them anymore?

Furthermore, Padmé and Anakin’s love grew out of the good times they had shared, their initial friendship, Anakin’s years-long crush on her, meeting again as grownups, fighting side by side, sharing and consummating their feelings, getting married.

What positivity existed between Rey and Ren? The time he knocked her out and kidnapped her? The time he tortured her? The time he murdered her father figure? The time he knocked her out again? The time he nearly killed her best friend? The time she asked him, weeping, why he had killed Han and he turned it on her to hurt her with her abandonment issues? The time she asked him to put on a shirt in a situation where she couldn’t avoid him, and he ignored her? The time he manipulated her and used her as bait to take power, which firmly includes the throne room battle? The time he announced he would kill all her friends? The time he declared her to be “nothing” except to him?

Tell me, what is the positive moment that existed between them that brings them anywhere near Anidala’s level? What makes you think it’s likely she would give him yet another chance?

It’s started. Three black Finn fans have deleted. I will be following suit. I’m not going to stay where people who look like me and my family are obviously not wanted. I feel for John Boyega. This was supposed to be his big break. I’m not giving Disney another dime of my money and LF can burn to ashes. I’ve finally taken the hint and a lot of other black fans are going to follow us. I hope LF enjoys its white fanbase. Hope them making sci fi great again was worth it.

I have literal tears in my eyes. I wish I had an argument to convince you to stay but I don’t. Take care of yourself and I hope you find a worthier fandom or other hobby for your time and money. I wish you all the best.

the dude who made the SDCC posters is so full of shit. first he prefaces it by saying it has nothing to do with race despite acknowledging he’s a white man who has never not been represented. he says there’s no poe or finn on the cover because they aren’t part of the “skywalker legacy”- yet rey random is the forefront? yet obi wan and quigon are on the phantom menace one? the only thing that’s keeping me sane about these reylos jerking off in the comments is the fact that it’ll never be canon

Fuck him for thinking Finn and Poe carrying on the legacy of resistance and hope isn’t part of the Skywalker legacy. He’s missed the entire damned point of TFA and TLJ if he thinks the Skywalker legacy has anything to do with blood anymore–in fact he’s bought into the very point of view these movies were advocating against.

This is exactly the kind of white liberal I fucking hate, the type that says “it’s not racist unless I say it is” and refuses to do any kind of introspection while giving lip service to it. Yeah, he, a white guy, gets to define racism. I hope Finnrey becomes canon in Episode IX and he cries white tears along with the Reylows over Rey kissing a Black man. Fuck them all sideways, seriously.

You know in the end of tlj were we finally had Rey and Finn scene of them hug together. Well there is a Reylo art of Rey hugging not Finn but FUCKING kilo run they erased Finn and drew kilo just to have that moment. Geez can they just stop. It’s really annoying how reylow just see a pic of Daisy/Rey with Finn/John and erase him over Adam/Kilo.w

Reylows: FINN AND REY HAVE NO ROMANTIC CHEMISTRY WHATSOEVER

Also Reylows: But replace Finn with Kilo and it’s peak romance 🙂

hey, 19 year old mexican fan over here. SO I recently joined a show fandom, but i seem to have fallen into a rarepair hell, and the problem its that fans are either antis (which i find stupid cuz is Not based on abuse or violence, nor is it racist or sidelines a person of color, its literally the crackiest of crackships, isnt even canon) or some of the shippers are.. let just say that the girl i followed for most content turn out to be obsesed for the creepiest psychopath of the show.

(Part2) still me, sorry. But another thing i noticed its that a
huge part of the fandom are (mostly) white lesbians. And you see, theres
a canon romantic relationship between a white man and a dark skinned
black woman, but everyone seems obsessed with shipping him with the show
lead, a canon gay albeit white man. And yes, the blogs are not openly
racist toward her but the slash pairing its the one with the most ao3
works, posts, fanart. And she gets only an ocasional post, or part of an
ot3,

(Pt3) or even an Ot4, cuz the lead has a canon love interest.
And, i dont know, maybe im just exagerating, cuz there are many girls
who arent white, and fans seem to love her in general, but then again
its pretty obvious which ship they prioritize and prefer (the white
slash ship, even if the shows ends with the guy betrays the other
because he loves the girl so much, choosing her over his best friend,
the lead), or that she should haven been a lesbian. Fandoms (even the
queer ones)are the worst

Wow, aside from a few details this could be The Walking Dead TV show, The Flash or a bunch of other fandoms. Why you gotta be so predictable fandom smh

Idk if anyone brought this up before but I’m sad that rey didn’t end up force skyping FINN in tlj, someone she actually has an emotional connection with that isn’t torture abuse and hatred???

I felt so sorry for Rey in TLJ. She’s stuck following around two messed-up men trying to cajole them to step up, one of whom murdered her father figure before her eyes and then turns around to use her abandonment issues to hurt her. She isn’t even given space to grieve Han properly or process her own trauma at Ren’s hands except through the unhealthy process of trauma bonding, where she tries desperately to believe the person who hurt her is actually on her side. She isn’t even shown spending time with Chewie whom she actually likes and who shares her grief. She was constantly missing Finn, and he was on her mind even while she was about to risk her life on a reckless plan. Her reunion with Finn was the first time she looked genuinely happy in the movie, and that’s really sad for someone who is so optimistic and hopeful. I guess RJ was trying to set up that contrast but mostly I just felt sad for her.
