What weekend?

Screw this trend of classic franchises making comebacks in which the first installment is less than perfect but extremely promising starts and then burning everything to the ground in the following installment. Screw LF and JK for getting me invested in Finn and Rey and Newt when the followups are such enormous disappointments. Thanks for making me care about your stupid wonderful characters, now I’m a hostage to crumbing franchises because I got all invested and crap. I hate wasted potential…
Srsly. I would not have given a shit about SW and been completely entertained by the TLJ shitshow if I hadn’t come to care for the new characters so much, and if I didn’t still love the old characters especially Leia. I’m still trying not to be too invested, but John’s excitement is getting me excited again 😦
Lando’s Force ability: surviving explosions he doesn’t actually outrun
You don’t get a perfect Cape Swirl every time without the Force!
“Finn in IX could be the character that Leia could have been” THIS. This is exactly what I want. Please JJ make it happen.
SW did Princess Leia dirty and had better not do the same to our man Finn.

nerd*asians tweeted about the D&G anti asian commercial and they said “Love the zero-tolerance racism policy!”. Then black people replied “China doesn’t have a zero-tolerance racism policy for blacks & others”. They never replies when someone point anti blackness, I stop follow them when they called out BobaGuys, that belongs to two asian men, but they were like “now white people are selling boba milk tea” and just deleted the tweet weeks later
Ugh so many blogs run by Asians are completely oblivious when it comes to antiblackness. I mean it’s understandable since it’s not part of their experience and they reflect their own communities’ antiblack biases. I’ve never experienced antiblack racism on a personal level and I’m ignorant about it too! The problem is that they’re not willing to listen and correct themselves, or to admit mistakes.
What impact do you think China, the biggest movie market, has on the new SW films? They have a whole bunch of rules that are completely justified, but then they have listed, “No Homo, no Ghosts, no supernatural.”, and then there’s also John Boyega being little on the TFA poster. Since people in China HATED 8, to the point that they had to market Solo in China very carefully, do you think Disney will be like “9’s probably not going to do well there anyways, so let’s throw in some LGBT rep”?
More like throw in Force Ghost Luke. Much as I’d like LFL/Disney to think in terms of LGBT rep I’m pretty sure that’s not happening.
“But there were flashbacks in TFA!” Wrong, that was a Force vision and a cryptic one at that that wasn’t expositional. But the fandom’s been obsessed with flashbacks since the sequel trilogy was announced, before TFA even came out. Of course Rian didn’t see a problem with them. He’s from THAT part of the fandom.
Yeah, Luke had a Force vision in ESB and it was pretty much the same thing with Rey. Except the movies never bothered to make any sense of them smh.
I’d be a little weary of fhpoc in general because some of the mods aren’t good. There have been some anti-asian racism from the mods before. It’s gotten better, but still not great.
I don’t follow them and I’ve seen stuff from them that is plain wrong (about potentially abusive age gap relationships, for instance), but I’m not sure about the anti-Asianness and I scrolled pretty far in the search.
I gave a look on fandomshatepeopleofcolor and there’s anons saying that Finn fans are being anti asian to Rose and I never saw it happening.
I haven’t personally seen it either. The Finn fans I interact with were excited about Rose prior to TLJ and disappointed with her portrayal after TLJ hit. I think at least some of the assertion that Finn fans are being anti-Asian is due to the latter part, with the criticism of Rose’s character being interpreted as racism. I know I got my share of shit for saying Rose’s treatment of Finn was wrong. Similarly, a number of Asian fans including @leg-grestrade, @xingli, and @to-break-the-stalemate (who is Vietnamese) were outspoken about how horrible RJ’s writing of Rose was.
I don’t rule out Finn fans being racist against Rose, of course, and I know at least one reylow shipper received an anon saying Rose is a downgrade from Rey and isn’t even a good-looking Asian. (Like come fucking come say that to my face, anon.) And of course, Loan Tran quit social media over the racist and misogynistic harassment she received. Anti-Asian racism is a definite problem across fandoms. What I find suspect is the claim that this vitriol is confined to one section of the fandom. That smacks of both minimization and an attempt to use Loan’s actual suffering for an agenda.
