au where Anakin is Mace Windu’s padawan

Anakin bit his lip, afraid to ask, but needing to know. “Master? Why didn’t you want me to be a Jedi?”

Mace gave the boy, his student for nearly a year, a measured look. “I was afraid.”

“Of me?” Anakin’s voice trembled despite his best efforts. Master Windu wasn’t afraid of anything. “What’s wrong with me?”

Mace shook his head. “You reminded me of someone I didn’t want to remember.”

Anakin looked at the floor, his shoulders tight with anger, fear, shame, and his determination not to show them. “A Sith,” he guessed.

Mace placed a hand on his wayward padawan’s shoulder. “Myself,” he explained. “Before I learned to trust the Force.”

Anakin raised wide eyes to his master’s, flashing with a hundred questions, but he could articulate none. Mace pat his shoulder, once, and let go.

“You will be a Jedi. I promise.”

How would Finn, Rey, Poe, & Rose react to finding Earth, with it’s diverse life and biomes? How would Kylo & Hux try to exploit it?

I imagine they’d all be amazed at finding a planet that DOESN’T have a planetary monoclimate 😂 The prevalence of that trope in SW amuses me and annoys me at the same time. I’d imagine the Rebels would want to fly around, explore, and study it for useful resources and just for the sheer joy of exploring, and try to make contact with any sentient lifeforms that might guide them around the planet and be potential allies.

I think the FO would have a more strip-mine-and-move-on approach where they immediately try to take all the available resources by the most efficient means, frakking on a planetary scale for minerals and so on. Since the planet is friendly to human life (some newly-poisoned rivers notwithstanding) they might want to set up a more permanent central base for the system from which they could mine the other planets.

If they discovered Reddit, the Resistance and First Order would call a truce and blow us up tho

Do you like Harry Potter? What hogwarts houses do you think Finn and Rey would be in and what their lives would be like in the wizarding world? Also you can sort other star wars characters if you want unless you had this type of ask before sorry.

Oh yeah, I used to be in the fandom back in the day. It was my first fandom and the first time I shared any fiction I wrote with strangers, in fact. I lost interest around Books 5-6 but read all the books and the saw movies up to GoF.

I answered a SW/Hogwarts ask before so enjoy (link)! I haven’t gotten a full Hogwarts AU ask, though. Here’s what I think:

Potterverse Rey would be a street child surviving on her wits and giving her meager earnings from panhandling and dumpster diving to a gang boss in exchange for protection, before she’s picked up by groundskeeper Chewbacca at 11 years of age. Does the wizarding world have any kind of child welfare system, I wonder? The magical authorities know all the children born with magic but won’t lift a finger to help them until they reach 11? Or was Harry’s case an anomaly due to his need to stay with his blood family? Also what happens to children like Rey who aren’t sitting on a vault of Gringott’s gold?

Finn’s background has no analogue in the HP verse unless we’re talking about an alternate world where Voldemort won at least a partial victory and was able to raise an army of child soldiers. Then the letter from Hogwarts comes and, desperate to escape his circumstances, he runs away from Voldyland to attend the still-defiant Hogwarts. This changes the universe too radically, though, so let’s tone it down to Finn being born to the House of Black and abandoning his pureblood supremacist beliefs after meeting Rey and Poe and the others. Basically Sirius and Regulus in one, I guess, but with a much happier ending.

Sorted into Ravenclaw, Rey is unable to believe the stability and plenty she experiences at Hogwarts and thrives despite having recurring issues including hoarding food. She excels at Charms and Muggle Studies, and has nowhere to go during holidays and summers so she stays and helps Chewie with the grounds. Mr. Solo, the Quidditch coach who was a star Chaser when he was younger, is impressed at her broom maintenance and riding skills and she becomes one of the Chasers on the Ravenclaw team. She dislikes the team’s dictatorial captain and Keeper Armitage Hux, however. There’s also something really sinister about their Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, Professor Snoke.

Finn meanwhile shocks everyone when he is sorted into Gryffindor, and his aunt Phasma sends him a Howler about it. He finds it hard to make friends in his House but one of the Prefects, Poe Dameron, is kind to him. Finn also becomes friends with Rey after they along with Poe’s cat BeeBee escape giant spiders with crazy broom antics. Finn struggles with the beliefs he was raised in but comes increasingly to see these ideas were wrong, which further strains his relationship with his family. With things increasingly unbearable at home, he spends more and more holidays at Hogwarts with Rey. They are both invited to the Dameron home some summers and Christmases, where they have great fun on the farm. Finn takes over as Seeker after Poe’s graduation and finds himself constantly butting heads with Slytherin prefect and Seeker Ben Organa, son of the Minister of Magic and nephew of Headmaster Skywalker.

Through their time spent poking around the grounds Finn and Rey gather clues about a Death Eater group being run in Hogwarts, though they are not sure who the leader is. When they go to Master Skywalker with their suspicions the Headmaster connects the dots himself and attempts to use Legilimency on his nephew to learn the truth. Ben brings down the Slytherin dungeon on Skywalker and gathers his Death Eaters to attack the students and burn down Hogwarts. Finn and Rey along with the other students fight back, however, with Finn and Rey using Anakin Skywalker’s wand against Ben. Together they repel the attack with minimum loss of life–among which was, shockingly, Ben’s own father Mr. Solo. Ben Organa flees from Hogwarts along with the Death Eater students including Hux. Master Skywalker also disappears, some say to track down Ben, others say out of shame. Leia Organa loses her job as Minister of Magic due to the scandal and becomes the new Headmistress. Even as they grieve their losses the students and faculty know they have a bigger fight looming ahead…

Love it

And Finn could be raised by the Death Eaters and trained to be one. They had always been in the background, like a secret cult following. So it’s possible.

It’s ironic though because Snoke and Voldy look alike already 😂

Who’s this world’s version of Snape?

That works! Finn could use his extensive knowledge of the DE as they gather clues about a DE gang on campus and he suffers from undeserved shame at how he was brought up, something Rey and Poe help him through.

Finn and Rey both have understandable issues with authority that lead them not to go to the adults in their lives when they see danger, but Mr. Solo and Chewie are exceptions. They are left horribly traumatized when Solo is murdered before their eyes by his own son. 😦

I thought of Snoke as the Quirrell figure who was revealed to be the Big Bad after the first year and leaves. The discovery of Ben’s DE gang would be a multiyear arc, so if we keep the “curse” on the DADA position there would be a succession of teachers. Maybe Ben could even be the DADA teacher in the year he is discovered (around Year 4?), having taken the posting right after graduation like the elite wizard he is. Then Poe, also a recent graduate, is the next DADA teacher, and is captured by the DE before he apparently dies in a broom crash during his escape. He makes a triumphant return in the next book.

I guess Holdo is Snape, the asshole authority figure who dies heroically, but with the aesthetics and condescension of Umbridge 😂

This is a somewhat unfortunate juxtaposition but Rose could be the Cho Chang figure, the upperclass girl who briefly dates Finn. I’d like to see Finn have a crush on her, too, and for it not to be so one-sided on Rose’s part. Rey is Finn’s amused but supportive wingwoman, and it isn’t until over a year after Finn and Rose’s breakup that she realizes her own feelings for Finn.

Rey also dates other people including fellow Ravenclaw Chaser Jessika Pava, but they break up after Jessika realizes she’s in love with Rose. It makes things awkward on the Quidditch field for a while and brings back Rey’s abandonment issues, but she works things through with the help of her friends and becomes stronger friends and teammates with Jessika than ever. Later, when Rose and Jessika get together and Finn and Rey get together. they go on ironic but fun double dates.

Instead of Cedric Diggory we could have Paige as the sacrificial figure, except she gets a bit more agency in her death. She can be be one of the people to die during Ben’s attack on the school, holding off the DEs so the Ravenclaw dorm can evacuate.

Running like Mandalorians

A battle scene with Force sensitive Finn and Boba from my alternate sequel trilogy, with Mandalorian Finn and Boba the Mandalore (link to masterpost). This most likely takes place during the Battle of Tatooine in Episode IX. For @fettjango’s birthday, happy 28th!

The shard of darkness flies to Finn through the air, flipping end over end. He does not grab it so much as it falls into his hand, as though the metal grip of the hilt were always meant to be there. He whips the blade sideways to parry away the lightsaber, the blade of light and the one of darkness crackling with white static in the moment of their meeting.

Before the Knight of Ren can bring her saber back in line Finn stretches out a hand, gathering the strands of power that stretch throughout this spaceship corridor and beyond. He pushes it out toward the Knight and she flies back, hitting her back on the far wall.

He is ready for her when she bounces back from the wall and kicks off it through the air at him, borne on waves of the Force like a Mandalorian warrior on his jets. He raises the Darksaber with one hand while preparing to dodge out of the way.

The Knight is yanked off course, and it isn’t until she is being slammed against the bulkhead that Finn sees the cable wrapped around her wrist. She pulls at the cable and reaches out with the Force, pushing with it against her new opponent before she can be zipped along with the cable as it winds up. She lands on the floor on her back, and even as Finn runs to her he can tell that she has stopped pushing and is pulling at the floor for leverage, keeping herself on the floor so that her heavier armored opponent, rather than pulling her to him, hurtles to her as his cable winds. Her other hand holds out her lightsaber, knocking away the warrior’s blaster bolts and ready to impale him as his reflection looms larger and larger in her mask.

Finn leaps in with a shout, buoyed by his jets and maybe with the Force, it’s hard to tell at times, and swings with the Darksaber at the cable. He half expects the blade to bounce back from the taut metal but instead it cuts through with the ping of the wire disconnecting. White sparks fly and the airborne warrior, now freed from the cable, activates his jets to flip backward through the air, still shooting. The Knight on the floor rolls away to avoid the bolts and the end of the severed cable that whips toward her.

Finn cuts his jets to pounce, Darksaber in both hands stabbing down, but she manages to strike his blade away as she rolls and the Darksaber strikes sparks off the floor instead. The Knight leaps to her feet, breathing heavily, her back to a wall as she faces both the warriors.

“Surrender. It is two against one, you have no chance.” Finn holds out the Darksaber at her while the other warrior lands next to him with a hiss of jets.

Just then footsteps pound toward them from their left–no, from their right as well–and Finn sees more Knights and soldiers coming down the corridor from both sides.

“No.” The Knight stands straight, holding out the burning red light of the saber. “You have no chance. Surrender.”

Next to Finn a blaster clatters to the floor.

“Boba!” Finn stares aghast at the warrior who raises his hands through the air. No, not he, the Warrior of Warriors, Boba Fett the Mandalore himself. Finn feels his eyes sting at the very thought even while he widens his stance and watches the Knight out of the corner of an eye. She is relaxed, however, taking a breather while her comrades arrive to trap her adversaries.

Boba’s hands stop on either side of him, stretching out toward the left and the right at the approaching enemies. Finn feels the tug of the Force and realizes what is happening a split second before the Knight gives a sharp cry and charges at Boba with her saber. Finn throws himself between her and Boba, throwing her back with a parry.

The Force bursts from Boba like a flare from a sun, so overwhelming Finn’s Force sense shies away. On either side of the corridor the approaching enemies are knocked over, flattened as though with a hurricane. Before they can recover the doors on either end of the corridor slam shut, locking them out. From the pounding and the sound of lightsabers being activated, Finn can tell it is a temporary situation.

The Knight of Ren, cornered, charges again, but Finn meets her and this time a crackle of electric energy from the Darksaber flings her away against a bulkhead where she slides down to the floor, stunned.

“We go left,” Boba grounds out through gritted teeth, and Finn feels the strain on him from keeping the doors closed. He nods; it is the right call, the direction where he saw fewer enemies. “Activate my pack. Have to… concentrate.”

Finn nods and steps up to wrap the Mandalore in a bear hug. He reaches behind Boba at the ancillary control on his jetpack, building up a pressure in the right main jet to start tilting him over. Holding Boba steady in his arms, Finn activates his own pack with the muscle gestures familiar to him since childhood and kicks off slantwise, increasing the output on Boba’s pack so they have enough propulsion for both bodies.

When they are horizontal, the floor to Finn’s right side and ceiling to the left–this is crazy, it occurs to him for the first time–he fires both jets so they are flying through the air at the door as though to ram it with their heads.

He feels Boba release the hold on the Force with a gasp of relief, and the door ahead of them disappears as it flies open with a whoosh. Finn releases the Mandalore and they fly apart, Boba already shooting with his other blaster at the soldiers who are just now bringing their blasters up, Finn pushing them over with the Force and slashing with the Darksaber that seems alive in his hands.

They break through the line of enemies and land on the other side, then leap off once more down the corridor toward their allies. As he runs, propelled by his jets, Finn gives a sideways glance to Boba and their eyes meet.

“Thank you for the assist.” Finn holds up the Darksaber. “I’ll return it once we’re out of the woods.”

Boba shakes his head before he turns to fire at their pursuers. “Keep it. It suits you.”

Star Wars AU: Men in Black

“You know the difference between me and you?” Agent F cockily says as he slides on his sun glasses.

Agent H, knowing exactly where the kid is going, sighs deeply, but still subtly grins.

“I make this look good.”

“Just get in the car, big deal.”

Since Finn is rocking a Han Solo style look in the leak pics for IX, I thought a Men in Black AU with Finn and Han was appropriate.

Well obvs if Rey was a Dameron she’d be Latino too and cast as such.

Anyone have thoughts about this? I mean maybe I’m not one to talk, I did recast Rey as Kawennáhere Jacobs in my alternate sequel trilogy after all, but I’ve also seen racebends of Rey being pointed out as racist.

@dasakuryo Good point! For Afro-Latina Letitia Wright (Guyanese British) would work like you said, and she has experience being the headstrong little sister too XD

My personal favorite though is the other suggestion you made in chat, Guatemalan indigenous actress María Mercedes Coroy.
