“Be wicked, be brave, be drunk, be reckless, be dissolute, be despotic, be an anarchist, be a religious fanatic, be a suffragette, be anything you like, but for pity’s sake be it to the top of your bent–Live–live fully, live passionately, live disastrously if necessary. Live the gamut of human experiences, build, destroy, build up again! Live, let’s live, you and I–let’s live as none ever lived before, let’s explore and investigate, let’s tread fearlessly where even the most intrepid have faltered and held back!”

–Violet Trefusis in a letter to her lover Vita Sackville-West, October 1918

So I have a hankering to do some edits based on this quote, specifically the parts “Live fully” “Live passionately” “Live disastrously” “Let’s live, you and I” “as none ever lived before.” I hope to feature a different wlw character/couple for each gif. Here’s the ones I’m thinking:

Live fully: Anissa and Grace from Black Lightning dancing together

Live passionately: A love scene between Carol and Therese from Carol

Live disastrously: Rosa from Brooklin 99 in jail

Let’s live, you and I: A scene between Louise and Henriette from Mystére á la Tour Eiffel. Kissing, walking arm in arm?

As none ever lived before: Drawing a blank on this one. Is there a live-action movie or TV show with relatively high-definition sources where there are canon wlw (especially woc) and no dead lesbians?

There were things that we talked about that we allowed to exist in the characterization, but maybe not be explicit in the film,” admits Thompson. Pay attention to her agony in a flashback where Blanchett’s Goddess of Death murders the rest of Valkyrie’s warrior clan. “There’s a great shot of me falling back from one of my sisters who’s just been slain,” says Thompson. “In my mind, that was my lover.

The ONLY valid criticism of black panther I’ve heard is that AyoxAneka doesn’t happen, which as a woc and lesbian, disappointed me But white lesbians are co-opting this as a black panther thing, while still being obsessed with avengers and civil war NO marvel movie has gay characters and I’m so fed up with my friends who insist that this makes black panther “problematic” Sorry I’m just really upset about all these double standards. It would have been an intersectional victory not just a gay one

The deletion of the Okoye/Ayo flirtation has the stink of executive meddling all over it, with Marvel rushing to make a categorical denial while a co-writer, Joe Robert Cole, was much more circumspect and evasive. The only other time I know of that a Marvel movie even TRIED was when Valkyrie was going to be bisexual in Thor: Ragnarok, in what ended up as yet another deleted scene. But the Avengers and CW are awesome while BP is “problematic,” uh huh. I see white fans use that double standard to try and tear BP down, and we all know why. They’re not fooling anyone.

You don’t see them complaining about erasing scarlet witch’s bi-ness.

Or her Jewish and Romani heritage. Wonder why?
