Some of you may be aware of the utter shitfire that my blog has become for the last day or so. You can read the post that first made the issue visible (link), and/or the one where I tried to clarify my stance (link) followed by a cliff notes version (link). There are also a bunch of other tiresome back-and-forths that have consumed this blog, if you have the time and fucks to give.

Given that some people are calling me a reylow now and have expressed discomfort at interacting with me, while others have given their support, at this point I’m a little uncertain who is comfortable with me following or reblogging from them and I don’t want to unwittingly cross anyone’s boundaries. So if you no longer want me interacting with you, please block me so there will be no misunderstanding or discomfort. Thank you.

On the same note, if you want posts and art of yours removed from my blog before you block, let me know. I generally won’t count posts where you are not the op (that is, posts where you are part of the reblog chain) as “yours,” so if you want those removed as well you’ll have to specify. I will decide on a case-by-case basis whether I will honor that request, depending on the size of your contribution to the thread.

I will delete everything I can find but due to the spotty nature of Tumblr search there may be things I miss, so it would be prudent to do your own search as well after I have given you the delete notice. And of course, if there are any previous URLs you’ll need to specify those as well.

Additionally, Tumblr does not always show me comments added in a reblog and I might not be able to see and respond to delete requests if they’re in reblogs as opposed to asks or messages. If you put a delete request in a reblog and I have not answered, that is the reason so try my inbox or messages instead. If you want me to answer an ask privately, indicate so in words or add double asterisks**

As for the people whom I have blocked recently and who cannot contact me for delete requests ( @shropshiregirl79 and @santababyfinn), I have gone ahead myself and deleted all their content I can find on my blog. I have left up reblog chains and asks about the recent mess as a matter of record. I have also searched and deleted posts by muslimfinn and thotfinn, two past urls I can recall for santababyfinn, and if anyone can name others I would be grateful.

Look I am fully on board wih the aims of the Escape the Corset (탈코) movement in Korea. Women don’t need to cater to the male gaze and they shouldn’t be pressured to use all their time and energy to look pretty. It’s a very necessary movement and I hope it keeps up.

That said, there’s also a subset in the movement who are not just escaping the corset themselves but actively shaming women who do wear makeup and saying they’re not true feminists, their minds are enslaved and so on. Yes, anyone can be jerks about a movement and take it way too far, but there’s a clear trans-exclusionary undercurrent to this rhetoric against the reality where trans women are unable to be accepted as women at all unless they perform femininity to degrees far beyond cis women.

To be clear, trans women should not experience these pressures to be hyperfeminine, any more than cis women, and easing the ridiculous beauty pressure is good for all women. This isn’t about discrediting EtC or dismissing those who adhere to it as shrill bullies. It is not okay to invalidate the very real problems that prompted EtC by saying “I wear makeup because it makes me happy!” or such shit. Shut up. Not about you.

At the same time we can recognize that the trans-exclusionary part of the movement is using it to paint trans women as enemies of feminism and male oppressors, when makeup may be necessary for them in a way it is not for cis women.

The EtC movement is admirable and necessary. At the same time, please be on the lookout for ways activism can be co-opted to isolate and demonize some of our most vulnerable sisters. Please don’t forget trans women in your activism.

When TFA came out my dad wasn’t impressed with the attractiveness of the cast. He thought Daisy was “alright” but John was “funny looking” (I guess Finn does make some weird faces sometimes?) and Kylo Ren looked like a zitty teenager with a big potato nose (had to agree with him there.) But hilariously, he said the best-looking person in the movie was probably Harrison Ford.

Yeah John is an actor with awesome comic chops and I think a lot of people used that as an excuse to pass him off as comic relief. He has plenty of serious scenes, though, where his heartthrob handsomeness comes into full relief. I know intellectually Daisy is a beautiful young woman but on a personal level she fills me with meh. Like… they’re blatantly trying to confuse people with their url, and they’re even using an event run by @finnappreciation as their header to further the confusion. Luckily I’ve been around long enough to know having unconditional ship inclusivity in the description is generally code for asshole, including possible support for pedophilic ships.
