Star Wars AU: Men in Black

“You know the difference between me and you?” Agent F cockily says as he slides on his sun glasses.

Agent H, knowing exactly where the kid is going, sighs deeply, but still subtly grins.

“I make this look good.”

“Just get in the car, big deal.”

Since Finn is rocking a Han Solo style look in the leak pics for IX, I thought a Men in Black AU with Finn and Han was appropriate.

The white top with some grey that Poe’s wearing in the pictures looks similar to the one someone’s wearing behind the camera in the one John posted on Instagram too. And chewie I think was in that so that scene may lead into or from this one. I’m wondering if they have a mission to meet Naomi ackes character and we get background about her in that scene before the action.

For reference.

I’ve actually seen this suggested in the tags a couple of times and I’ll say that yeah, it does look like it’s Poe/Oscar next to Finn/John in the first blurry photo. So your theory that this is them either leaving or arriving is definitely plausible.

Another interesting thing in this context is that someone spotted a mock up of the Falcon – its cockpit anyway – in Black Park. Black Park is a forest not far from London where Star Wars has shot before. It was used for some of the Endor scenes in RotJ and it was outdoors Takodana in TFA as well.

So there’s the possibility that we’ll be revisiting either of those places. Either way, it does lend some credence to the claim that there’s a jungle/forest planet in IX.

I would love it if it’s Yavin 4 and we get to see the Dameron farm and Kes. Realistically I think it’s likelier to be Batuu, which Disney is promoting hard as a location in their SW park and as the backdrop of Padmé’s adventures in the new Thrawn novel. I’ve also pointed out the similarities between Finn’s outfit here and Padmé’s in the novel’s poster, suggesting at the very least the climates of their respective locations are in a similar range.

I don’t know how convincingly Black Park would look as a jungle tbh. Yavin was always very convincingly a jungle planet, being shot in Guatemala when outdoor shots were used. But maybe.

Batuu definitely looks like a possibility. Even more interestingly the art I’ve seen of Batuu has both forest and grassy hilsides (and some very pointy mountains), so both Black Park and the scene shot yesterday might be from Batuu.

If it’s Batuu the pointy mountains will get CG’d in along with a bunch of other stuff, so it would work! In conjunction with the other discussion about the characters in the background possibly being Finn’s people, if that conjecture is true it would mean Disney is putting a lot of promotional weight behind Finn’s home planet. I mean I’d prefer a planet we already know for Finn’s origin *coughJedhacough* because Jesus isn’t it time to wrap things up and have callbacks and stuff, but this wouldn’t be bad either.

We haven’t seen Rey and Rose yet, because Finn and Poe are in a battle of the sexes with them to see who can kick more First Order ass and look good while doing it.

The girls, in a dangerous bid to win, go to the FO’s headquarters to hunt them at the source. They end up bringing down the entire FO within the first hour and the rest of the movie is just them celebrating and smoking weed.

Han, Chewie, and the kid, were preparing the Falcon and getting ready to leave D’Qar for Starkiller base. While they all were making preparations, Chewie nudged him and motioned to the worn and slightly ripped clothes Finn was wearing.

Han and Chewie wondered why Finn hadn’t changed his clothes at all while they were with the Resistance. They were starting to look on their way out after their last scuffle with the First Order.

Han recognized that Finn had still been wearing his Stormtrooper clothes under the Resistance jacket. It was hard to miss. Han himself had disguised as a Stormtrooper with Luke all those many years ago, so he knew roughly what they looked like under the armor. 34 years hadn’t changed that much in the Stormtrooper dress code apparently.

Sighing, Han waved at Chewie and told him he’d handle it. He searched through the Falcon trying to find some extra clothes for Finn. The kid was risking his life trying to help their asses and save his friend, or maybe she was his girlfriend? whatever she was, the least Han thought he could do was make sure Finn had something clean to change into after everything was said and done.

Just as they were about to take off, Han gruffly handed Finn an outfit he had found tucked away in the Falcon. Lando had gotten it for him decades ago, saying something about him needing to update his wardrobe.

For what?! Classics never go out of style. The kid might like it though. It seemed more his style with the Solo touch, and it had the Lando seal of approval.

Finn looked down at the clothes and shuffled awkwardly, bitting down on the inside of his cheek. The only thing he has ever been given was the armor he was expected to die in, and Han was giving him something that was just his and no one else’s.

He looked up at Han, doing his best to stay composed. “Thanks, Solo,” Finn said softly, hoping his voice didn’t crack.

It did, but Han wasn’t going to call him on it.

Han smirked, patting the kid on the shoulder, “No problem, big deal. C’mon, let’s go save the day.”

Finn smiled back and tucked the cloths safety away. He’d wear them after the mission. He’d have to thank Han properly for this. It wasn’t like he had any money, or anything, but maybe he could clean the Falcon! The old thing looked like it needed a wash…and pait…and new parts…

Maybe he’d talk to Solo about getting a new ship.

Post TLJ

After the Falcon sped away from Crait and the rest of the Resistance were finally settling into whatever section of the ship wasn’t infested with Porgs, Finn, who had retrieved the clothes Han had given him, had found his own little secluded space of the ship to be alone.

It hadn’t taken long for Finn to find the clothes. He’d left them in the same compartment he had found the blanket he had given to Rose earlier.

Everyone was so busy. Poe dealing with the news from Black Squadron, Rey reading the Jedi texts. Finn just wanted to be alone for a chance and think.

Finn held the clothes tightly in his hands as memories of the brief time had shared with Han played in his mind. Han’s death was the memory that kept repeatedly flashing in his mind.

Everything had happened so fast. From Starkiller to Crait felt like it had happened I’m in a heartbeat, and Finn still felt like he was still there, laying face down in the face. It was at that moment of all the emotions came at once and Finn felt the soldier’s mask he wore crack.

Finn slammed his fist into a wall, barley feeling the throbbing pain that coursed through his knuckles as they made contact. How could that bastard kill his own father? How could he just have something that so many people didn’t have, and just throw it all away?

Holding the clothes closer, the first real gift he had ever gotten that was his alone, Finn felt his throat choke out a sob as his legs weakened and he let himself slide down to the floor.

“Thanks, Solo,” Finn whispered into the clothes, “Thanks.”

A sad little fic on how I think Finn got his clothes for EP IX.

Thanks Satan.

@errrbodylovesfinn Looks like I didn’t have to write it myself.

Okay this whole thing fucked me all the way up, but this part in particular… like…

there is literally no reason to hate finn with so much animosity that you can’t wait to write about him being mauled to death fuck reylos

rootbeergoddess:

This is why I am so confused about the hatred towards Finn.

Finn has done anything to warrant this much hate. It doesn’t make sense. What has he done? The only thing that you can even consider bad is him trying to leave the others. That is it and he goes back on that as soon as Rey as in trouble. He’s kind, brave, selfless and he cares about people. It’s obvious that he cares about Poe and Rey. Hell, even Chewy likes him. But people want to smear him for no good reason.

Again, what has Finn done? Literally, nothing. It’s like hating a kitten.

List of Finn’s unforgivable crimes:

  1. Existing as a Black man
  2. Having a deep and heartfelt bond with Rey, something reylows believe Kylo is entitled to no matter how badly he mistreats her
  3. Being exactly what people want their white “hero” to be–courageous, honorable, fundamentally good, intellegent, complex, intriguing–and being better than their pale imitation Benny Solo in every conceivable way
