Ok but can you imagine if someone tried to pull the “Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering” shit with Finn in the event of a Stormtrooper uprising, cautioning him against anger and violence? The look he’d give that person. Like, “Thank you for your TED talk, but we’ve had our lives stolen and been fed a regular diet of curated bullshit for years, YEAH we’re angry no shit and we’re gonna use our pain, our anger to burn those fascists down. Now help us or get the hell out of our way.” Wouldn’t that be a wonderful pushback against the real-world “both sides” rhetoric we see today?

YES. Yes it would. I love the Jedi and most of their ideals… but right then, would definitely not be the time. Righteous anger, and lashing out rage are two very different things!

I think the power of righteous rage tempered by mercy would be a good case for what balance in the Force would look like, not some centrist compromise with evil as some suggest. Hence why I believe Finn is the best character to explore the idea of the Balance, because of how systematically he’s been wronged, how present and threatening that wrong still is, and how he must navigate that reality both within himself and socially with other Stormtroopers.

Okay now i kinda want Finn to have an Anansi style “angry gets shit done” speech

LOL I thought of Anansi too, and when I did this post contrasting Yoda’s and Anansi’s words I was definitely thinking of Finn. @thotfinn has you covered on an action-over-words, Finn-centric addition to this post here.

Rose and Finn brought nothing to the plot they were just there for diversity.

geekandmisandry:

We get it, people of colour make you uncomfortable and you think they need a good reason to be included in your fictional all white space pantomime.

Get over it.

I’m an Asian fan who loves Finn and was excited about Rose, and I think their characters were badly mishandled in TLJ. I’ll fight anyone who says they were mere diversity tokens, but I am not happy with the way Rian Johnson wrote them.

autistichansolo:

kylo: you’re son is dead

han: ok fine then i’ve got a new son anyway.

han, yelling up at finn: HEY BIG DEAL YOU’RE MY SON NOW

finn, fist pump: YES!!

then han shoots kylo and him, finn, rey, and chewie finishing blowing up the base and return to the resistance and nobody died or gets gravely injured but kylo but who cares about him and han adopts finn and they along with rey and chewie go get luke

why is this scene so satisfy omg,

I’m so sorry to my followers who have to see this but I can’t figure out how to reply directly.

What kind of sick racist fuck are you OP? You really wanna be out here drawing a fucking fascist slapping a black man and calling it satisfying?? What kind of pond-scum swill wants to draw this shit and then call it satisfying what the FUCK. Just call yourself the fucking neonazi you are and get the fuck outta the Finn tag with your ugly garbage and maybe eat shit on the way. Fucking sick cunt.

Op isn’t the only ugly racist on this thread either

lastjedifinn:

I’m just wondering @kylosjedi why you won’t @ me on tumblr but you want to screenshot my post and talk about it on twitter (a platform I don’t use very much) and act as though I’m demonizing Rose when all I said was that her scene with Finn was scary. Because you know, I was speaking as a fucking black person who was watching another black person be hurt on screen. Idk your race but it’s sort of ridiculous to frame my concern as racist or problematic when all I’m doing is talking about how that scene affected me.

And as for Rey well, lmao I don’t actually rock with her like that, and that scene between her and Finn where she also knocks him on his ass has been talked about by black people all fucking ready. Are you black? If not then you don’t get to police my reactions to a scene that mirrors violent anti blackness.

So if you’re gonna talk about the shit on my blog, be about it and reblog from me. Or, you know, @ me.

The way people frame any attempts to point out the violent antiblackness in that scene as anti Rose is fucking ugly and insidious. They think they’re slick, using an Asian woman as a shield for a white man. Fuck them, a ton of Asian fans have expressed their discomfort with that scene and we’re pissed that we can’t unconditionally celebrate Rose as representation for Asian women in Star Wars.
