HahAHaHAAAA won’t it be HEELARIOUS if the lead of the first movie of the sequel trilogy, who happens to be Black, ISN’T IN THE NEXT MOVIE AT ALL lmaooooo and wouldn’t it be a RIOT if his injury is so bad he doesn’t wake up for months and months he might even diiiiie lololol I’m crying here bro good shit good shit
We are not imagining it. Finn was marketed to us as being the next Jedi. He was the co-hero, the co-protagonist, the co-lead. Here is the proof. Feel free to add on anything you have.

Finn was marketed as the next Jedi. Lucasfilm is sidelining him now and they want the fanbase to forget about the marketing that they did for The Force Awakens. The problem is, we aren’t fools.
If Disney and Lucasfilm want us to give them our money?
Come get it. We want Finn.
You know what scares me most about this? If I hadn’t joined Tumblr a few months ago, I would be so ignorant of all of this. I still would’ve been upset about the near-complete lack of Finn in both trailers because he was my favorite character from TFA. But I probably would have brushed it off as Lucasfilm keeping us from spoilers.
But this is gross. And the general audience doesn’t pay close enough attention to realize what is going on. Instead, they are being fed subliminal messages that Finn isn’t (or even wasn’t) ever the Big Deal that he is.
Even if the movie doesn’t sideline him (and I don’t think it will because I’m idiotically optimistic?), there has been real damage done to the everyday movie fan’s perception of Finn. And it is on Lucasfilm and the marketing team they work with.
I seem to hesitate to speak about racism because it feels so fake of some privileged white guy to complain about when I have no idea what people have experienced and the constant blows that are being served. Not just from the truly despicable, but from the well-meaning idiots like me, too. But it is what it is. It’s racist and gross.
I’m sorry so many of you have to watch and feel shit like this after you were given such great representation in Finn.
Seeing all the old promo material just hurts my heart. Not only was there so much Finn, but the Jedi baiting was so, so real.
“We did at some point joke that it would be great to just have him be in a coma for the whole movie and keep cutting back to him.”
From there the crowd erupts with laughter at the prospect. Rian Johnson continues to explain that each of these cuts back to Finn would have him uttering some nonsense in his unconscious state, and at no point in the entire run time of the movie would the former Stormtrooper wake up.
Yeah… hilarious. This is the first result that came up when I searched for “Finn Rian Johnson,” as opposed to “Kylo Ren Rian Johnson” which showed the director gushing about how fun it was to write Kylo and how the 30-year-old is an adolescent trying to find himself.
Some things that will likely happen in TLJ that the fandom doesn’t want to talk about:
Rey will miss Finn, especially if Luke doesn’t accept her at first. She’s going to worry if he’s OK and will want to find him again, as she said she would at the end of TFA.
Finn will resist going on the mission because he just wants to find Rey.
Both of them will decide they need to do what they need to do before they can be together again.
Finn and Rey’s Reuinion will be beautiful.
If they are separated again, they will vow to find each other yet again, to always come back for one another.
Their love story won’t be the main focus of TLJ, but it will continue to build.
Finn loves Rey and Rey loves Finn, and that’s not going to disappear because it’s inconvenient.
Rey and Kylo will have a connection, either by blood or the Force itself; Rey will likely see that Kylo still has light in him. Kylo is likely on a road to redemption.
Rey still loves Finn.
If your reaction to the above is “I don’t see it” or “I don’t ship them” then congratulations, you just played yourself because nothing in the op even has to be read romantically (although by cultural convention such devotion often does signify romance). You’re admitting that it’s not about shipping preference, you just don’t want to admit that Rey and Finn love each other, as friends, family, lovers or anything else and that their love is central to the sequel trilogy. And that is a big fucking problem.
Awww, thank you! Just doing my job as the founder and treasurer of the Holy Church of Finn.
Kylo Ren: is a bit sad before murdering his parents
All of you: Oh my god! He is just misunderstood. He is actually such a good person? The real hero of star wars?
Finn: flees from the Nazi organization he was imprisoned in his whole life and then builds up the courage to go back and fight them
All of you: I can’t believe he would betray his friends like that I don’t know but I think he’s actually a pretty bad person. He didn’t even say goodbye
Excuse me, I still can’t believe someone actually suggested Finn destroyed Luke’s school!! I mean wasn’t it enough that they kept insisting it was Luke himself? No! Of course it was a teenaged Finn who did it! Without any logical motive or any indication in the plot that he was anywhere near – a single Stormtrooper in training somehow destroys an entire Jedi school???! They truly break their arms reaching when they do EVERYTHING to make their space facist look innocent, and when they can destroy Finn’s character for that…. all the better, huh? SUCH SHIT!
Even racists admit, Force-sensitive Finn is canon!
