@nightsofreylo plus Finn isn’t wearing gloves. Look at his fight with Phasma, no gloves.

You can’t see if Finn’s wearing gloves but whatever. I don’t want any interaction with r*ylo shippers on my blog. Can y’all leave properly tagged posts alone?

He is wearing a glove on his right hand in the Phasma duel. In fact he HAS to be wearing a magnetized glove in order for the baton to be glowing like that, it’s how those weapons are activated.

Well, for “fandom insecurity” (again, lack of space), I was referring to: “sustaining that Finn needs the white Force-sensitive girlfriend to be validated as “lead” comes off as terribly insecure”. That’s it.

fandomshatepeopleofcolor:

oooooooh, man, you’ve got it completely wrong. People ship Finnrey because they like finnrey, and because they want to see more interracial relationships in mainstream media. It doesn’t take away any of Finn’s agency and it doesn’t give him any more validity, he’s got that on his own. The thing is, most of the finnrey fandom knows this. The only reason we are all so defensive of the pairing is because it’s Always Being Attacked by Racists.(and reylos, but at this point same difference).

Shipping Finn with other characters is not racist or wrong, I don’t know where you get this idea, and as long as every meta and headcanon and actual canon is done respectfully then… no, him having a partner doesn’t make him any less central, valid (or not-valid, w/e), or anything. What you see as insecurity is actually a defense of Finn. Finnrey shippers have had to justify EVERYTHING about their pairing since the beginning because of racists.

You mentioned in your previous ask that you’d prefer “

personal development prioritized over the same ol’ romance” and I ask you two things:

1. Why is it that personal development over romance always comes up when it comes to people of color being shipped with a white character (or less commonly, each other)? What makes romance and a personal journey two separate things? It’s possible to have both!

2. Was personal development left aside on the OT just because hanleia was canon? Hell, romance on the PT was, like, one of the main things but that doesn’t mean that there wasn’t anything else going on! Character development can come from having a s/o, too!

We know Finn’s amazing on his own, but we think that it’d be even more awesome if he dated Rey! Now, if you want deeper answers and arguments, which I admit I’m not really making right now, you should definitely check @diversehighfantasy‘s  finnrey meta – she’s got a LOT of it and it’s amazing, explaining everything about Finn’s character and his potential with Rey.

Ok but can you imagine if someone tried to pull the “Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering” shit with Finn in the event of a Stormtrooper uprising, cautioning him against anger and violence? The look he’d give that person. Like, “Thank you for your TED talk, but we’ve had our lives stolen and been fed a regular diet of curated bullshit for years, YEAH we’re angry no shit and we’re gonna use our pain, our anger to burn those fascists down. Now help us or get the hell out of our way.” Wouldn’t that be a wonderful pushback against the real-world “both sides” rhetoric we see today?

rando whose not an ex-stormtrooper: violence is not the answer. if we use violence we’re just like the FO.

finn & co: *lighting snokes headquarters on fire* oh word?

Omg Finn would school that person so hard and he’d be mad as hell. Not self-destructive anger but an anger that is justified and not sugarcoated. The anger of men and women and children who have been treated like droids their whole lives. It’s the type of anger that topples evil regimes and gives birth to heroes.

And just imagine Hux trying to escape and he just gets swarmed by a giant group of angry stormtroopers who beat him to a pulp and throw his ass in the trash.

And they all burn the First Order to the ground. Brick by brick.

Yes to all this, and I hope Finn tells Hux as he confronts him, “Congratulations. Your program worked.”

And as the enraged troopers fall on the scared space Nazi: “…Just not in the way you intended.”

Lost Boy

Nines survives the battle of Takodana and swears revenge against the Traitor for turning his back on his brothers and leaving him to die. Unfortunately for Nines, his dreams of vengeance are put on hold when Maz finds him alive and has him trussed off to the Resistance for interrogation.

Finn is in charge of keeping an eye on the prisoner and the two have much to discuss.

( Finn breaking down Nines’s walls without even trying and getting him to open his eyes. Nines is angry and bitter towards Finn for “deserting” his brothers, but eventually realizes that Finn was never the traitor. )

I also may or may not ship Nines with Finn.

jakkus-storyteller:

Phasma mocking Finn during their battle and trying to distract him. She keeps calling him by that accursed number and Finn is just getting angrier and angrier, his blows becoming more heavy as he lands hit after hit on his “mentor.”

“You have become slow, FN-2187,” she sneers as she blocked another strike. “Look how far you have fallen, traitor.”

And Finn just loses it and knocks her weapon from out of her hands. “You don’t know a thing about me! You never did!” he snarls and lands a blow so shocking that he knocks her out. The anger he feels is justified and righteous. Finn’s anger is the anger of a gentle man who has been denied everything and pushed too far.

Just Finn being pissed as hell at his abusers and ready to take names.

FUCK YEAHHHHHH
