Such as now at the end of a long day, where Finn lies in Poe’s lap, head leaned against his lover’s chest.
His eyes are closed and he feels how his head rises and falls every time Poe draws a breath. The slow, regular movement is soothing, as is Poe’s hand that rests on top of Finn’s chest, just above his heart. The other cups the back of Finn’s head, fingers curved around the back of his scalp. Not caressing, just resting there, its warmth seeping into the back of Finn’s skull as it lends support and prevents Finn from getting a crick in his neck.
Finn’s own breath is slow and getting steadier by the minute as the stress of the day bleeds out of him. With a sigh his snuggles closer, a brief smile flitting across his lips.
“Comfortable?” Poe asks.
Finn’s only answer is a soft hum and a slightly wider smile, that lingers a bit longer before his face again relaxes back into a neutral expression.
Poe laughs softly and brushes a kiss across Finn’s forehead.
Finn hums agreeably.
He knows he should get up and get changed for bed, but lying here against Poe is too damn comfortable. Maybe in a little while.
Or maybe not. Finn feels Poe shift beneath him, he too getting comfortable on the bed, shifting Finn closer so they fit better together.
Maybe they will just sleep like this, fully dressed, and make use of these few moments of tranquil that they’ve found to get some much needed rest.
I’m super fucking stoked by Finn’s appearances in the trailer. Maybe it’s my theory goggles that Finn is going to start a Stormtrooper uprising, but it seems to me Poe’s line that “We have a spark that will light the fire that will burn the First Order down” is a direct reference to Finn and the possible Stormtrooper rebellion. What’s more, Finn shows up directly after that line, surrounded by, hmmmm, FIRE as he duels Phasma.
Poe seems to be speaking with repressed anger or sorrow (my God Oscar
Isaac’s delivery help me Obi Juan whoever the fuck you are), indicating
that this was spoken in a moment of conflict whether within himself or
someone else.
Could Poe’s clashes with Leia have to do with how to respond to the possible uprising? Did Finn convince Poe into letting himself and Rose to go on a rogue mission and into possible death, a choice Poe is himself conflicted about? Is that why Leia slaps him, when she finds out what he’s done?
Finn, by the way, is not carrying a lightsaber but some kind of energy pike weapon that seems to work similarly to the energy baton–called a tonfa–that FN-2199 used against him in the battle on Takodana. It not only looks freaking badass, it has a great reach, versatility and can stand up to lightsabers, too. (Thanks @secondtolastjedi for the correction!) This wouldn’t be the first time we saw Finn take a weapon off a Stormtrooper, and I love love love the symbolism here of Finn using the weapons of the First Order against it.
Also the all-black ensemble with a glowy energy weapon…. is anyone going to comment on the similarities with Luke in ROTJ? As I said in my reply to @diversehighfantasy, I see parallels with Luke in my TLJ speculation for Finn, too, particularly my wildly speculative ending.
Furthermore, when Snoke starts saying “Fulfill your destiny” the first shot is directly on Finn, although I think the line itself is said to Rey or Kylo. Is this a sideways reference to Finn’s liberating Stormtroopers being his destiny?
sometimes when im surrounded by too much straight shit i wonder if maybe im exaggerating. maybe poe is just a really friendly guy and likes finn platonically. but then i look at this:
……and i realize that’s not the face of a man who’s talking to his friend. that’s the face of a DORK WITH A BIG OL’ CRUSH (and honestly, who can blame him??)
There’s no mystery, Oscar did say he played Poe as being in love and wow did he kill it
okay so finn and poe don’t really have time for dates (being in the middle of a war and all) so they make the most of the free time they do have (remember how poe was dating muran but then he died way too soon? yeah finn and poe both know they might not have a lot of time together but they love each other and they’re gonna make whatever time they have count)
anyways, whenever they manage to they eat together and even tho the mess hall is filled with people they find their own little corner and when poe spills his food and they both can’t stop laughing it’s like they’re the only people in the room. after a tough battle they both just sit down together in their room and they don’t even need to say anything (dare i say…drift compatible?) they just hold on to each other and even though it’s hard right now they know they’ll get through it together (um think…forehead touches, hand holding, soft kisses, hugs) (they both know when to give each other some space too though).
sometimes after not seeing each other for a couple of weeks they stay up all night catching up, other times they’re both exhausted and just fall asleep curled up together. also they never stop talking about each other and love telling people how they met? they’re in love and everyone else loves their love
i love two ships equally, although i don’t really participate in their tags. but because of the fandom i like finnrey more. don’t get me wrong, i know some cool finnpoe people and many finnrey shippers ship finnpoe as well. but you can feel finn is respected so much more in the finnrey fandom and since the relationship established between finn and rey in tfa is ignored or undervalued in the star wars fandom, it feels good to stay in the finnrey fandom, knowing that at least in this place, their love for each other is appreciated. the finnrey fandom feels much safer. not to mention that so many finnpoe contents are racist.
(of course, that doesn’t mean the finnrey fandom is perfect either. i saw some finn fans who don’t get involved in shipping at all because they are tired of both finnrey and finnpoe, or they are just not interested in shipping at all.)
