Star Wars AU: Men in Black

“You know the difference between me and you?” Agent F cockily says as he slides on his sun glasses.

Agent H, knowing exactly where the kid is going, sighs deeply, but still subtly grins.

“I make this look good.”

“Just get in the car, big deal.”

Since Finn is rocking a Han Solo style look in the leak pics for IX, I thought a Men in Black AU with Finn and Han was appropriate.

Han, Chewie, and the kid, were preparing the Falcon and getting ready to leave D’Qar for Starkiller base. While they all were making preparations, Chewie nudged him and motioned to the worn and slightly ripped clothes Finn was wearing.

Han and Chewie wondered why Finn hadn’t changed his clothes at all while they were with the Resistance. They were starting to look on their way out after their last scuffle with the First Order.

Han recognized that Finn had still been wearing his Stormtrooper clothes under the Resistance jacket. It was hard to miss. Han himself had disguised as a Stormtrooper with Luke all those many years ago, so he knew roughly what they looked like under the armor. 34 years hadn’t changed that much in the Stormtrooper dress code apparently.

Sighing, Han waved at Chewie and told him he’d handle it. He searched through the Falcon trying to find some extra clothes for Finn. The kid was risking his life trying to help their asses and save his friend, or maybe she was his girlfriend? whatever she was, the least Han thought he could do was make sure Finn had something clean to change into after everything was said and done.

Just as they were about to take off, Han gruffly handed Finn an outfit he had found tucked away in the Falcon. Lando had gotten it for him decades ago, saying something about him needing to update his wardrobe.

For what?! Classics never go out of style. The kid might like it though. It seemed more his style with the Solo touch, and it had the Lando seal of approval.

Finn looked down at the clothes and shuffled awkwardly, bitting down on the inside of his cheek. The only thing he has ever been given was the armor he was expected to die in, and Han was giving him something that was just his and no one else’s.

He looked up at Han, doing his best to stay composed. “Thanks, Solo,” Finn said softly, hoping his voice didn’t crack.

It did, but Han wasn’t going to call him on it.

Han smirked, patting the kid on the shoulder, “No problem, big deal. C’mon, let’s go save the day.”

Finn smiled back and tucked the cloths safety away. He’d wear them after the mission. He’d have to thank Han properly for this. It wasn’t like he had any money, or anything, but maybe he could clean the Falcon! The old thing looked like it needed a wash…and pait…and new parts…

Maybe he’d talk to Solo about getting a new ship.

Post TLJ

After the Falcon sped away from Crait and the rest of the Resistance were finally settling into whatever section of the ship wasn’t infested with Porgs, Finn, who had retrieved the clothes Han had given him, had found his own little secluded space of the ship to be alone.

It hadn’t taken long for Finn to find the clothes. He’d left them in the same compartment he had found the blanket he had given to Rose earlier.

Everyone was so busy. Poe dealing with the news from Black Squadron, Rey reading the Jedi texts. Finn just wanted to be alone for a chance and think.

Finn held the clothes tightly in his hands as memories of the brief time had shared with Han played in his mind. Han’s death was the memory that kept repeatedly flashing in his mind.

Everything had happened so fast. From Starkiller to Crait felt like it had happened I’m in a heartbeat, and Finn still felt like he was still there, laying face down in the face. It was at that moment of all the emotions came at once and Finn felt the soldier’s mask he wore crack.

Finn slammed his fist into a wall, barley feeling the throbbing pain that coursed through his knuckles as they made contact. How could that bastard kill his own father? How could he just have something that so many people didn’t have, and just throw it all away?

Holding the clothes closer, the first real gift he had ever gotten that was his alone, Finn felt his throat choke out a sob as his legs weakened and he let himself slide down to the floor.

“Thanks, Solo,” Finn whispered into the clothes, “Thanks.”

A sad little fic on how I think Finn got his clothes for EP IX.

Thanks Satan.

@errrbodylovesfinn Looks like I didn’t have to write it myself.

Okay this whole thing fucked me all the way up, but this part in particular… like…

The only thing he has ever been given was the armor he was expected to die in

Re: Han’s Force abilities… something to do with flying, which is why he’s so good? And sensing when comrades are in danger— only he blames it on Chewie making him feel guilty. Also, extreme foot dexterity and enhanced aiming abilities, as per the original 1983 theory.

I think there’s a strong case for that, and I’ve always loved the idea of Force-sensitive Han. I mean dude made a shot and got the kill while he was blind??

What if Finn is in the Falcon because Rey or Chewie taught him how to fly it between movies?! Han told Rey that him and Chewie were looking to bring in new crew and Chewie even said in the TFA novel that his job was to look after the kids (Rey and Finn) after Han was murdered. What if Chewie adopted Finn and Rey in his own wookie way and is looking after them throughout the war? They all can be a lonely happy family together!

Chewie lost his dog Han and now he’s trying to take care of the puppies Han left behind… 😭 and also tried to put down the craven cur that killed Han.

Chewie in EP-IX:

I hope they will co-pilot the Falcon… 😭😭

Remember how Finn and Rey were nominated for most iconic friendship alongside Han and Chewie? Now they inherit the Falcon from them…😢

If you needed more proof (you didn’t) that I can’t draw older white people, here’s Chancellor Leia Organa and her husband Han Solo. I think Leia would’ve gotten upfront right away about Vader being her birth father, so there wouldn’t be any big strife in the middle of her political career. Plenty of people would be wary of her, but her big project as Senator of Alderaan was the founding of New Alderaan, a super-earth planet using the funds of the Alderaanian royal family to provide a refuge for all victims of the Empire’s attempted genocides (Alderaanians, Geonosians, people from Jedha City, which is where her red robe comes from, as a gift from the Brotherhood of Beatific Countenance). This massive success garnered near universal support, and she became well-loved for decades to come. At the time of your movie, though, the Mandalorian government is upset with the way things are run, and they have some ears in the Galactic Senate. Leia’s necklace is based on a prop seen on a wall in Ben Kenobi’s hut in A New Hope. I think if she named her son after him there should be more of a tie present.

Han Solo is, like you said, on both sides of the law. A lot of Senators see Han as a trophy husband, as he hasn’t had many ties to the military since the Battle of Endor. However, he keeps himself busy with both philanthropy and scoundrelry. While he definitely plays into a lot of criminal activity, he also acts like a bit of an enforcer (no drugs to kids, no slavery, etc.) He’s got a new jacket, and it actually looks new. The trim is gundark wool (perhaps Maz is a gundarkherd on top of everything else.) I love the square stripes on his pants in the OT, so I had to have a form of that back.

L.J.: The idea of a New Alderaan for the victims of genocide is so beautiful I may cry. Also I will never stop cackling at Han as a trophy husband because THE ACCURACY.

Han Solo didn’t sacrifice himself. Han Solo was murdered by Kylo Ren. In every sense of the word, through every form of media, by Kylo’s own admission and Lucasfilms confirms Kylo murdered Han Solo.

Han Solo was murdered. He did not sacrifice himself for Kylo Ren.

I’ll never understand why Reylo culture involves erasing the meaning of a scene.

I recently saw a conversation about this on reddit I think, in a “Is Kylo redeemable?” topic. Someone said that they believed that Kylo did not actually strike Han, that Han both ignited the lightsaber and used it against himself. Someone else responded that they’d thought that too, so they sat down and watched in in slo-motion over and over, and it actually does show Kylo holding the saber and stabbing Han through the upper torso.

And yet they said they still believe the theory that Han killed himself. It’s that level of refusal to put the blame on Kylo for something we saw him do that makes me hope he goes more evil in IX without the ambiguity TLJ allowed.

As much as I hate Rian Johnson’s writing, I will at least give him credit for establishing that Kylo Ren is a villain. It shows a clear understanding that the only people Kylo Ren ever cared about was his parents. He didn’t hesitate to attack Rey, but he did hesitate to attack his mother. It’s a trope called even evil has loved ones. The meaning, like the title hence that, means that even in evil person can have things they care about, usually family, which has been usually how the trope is portrayed because otherwise it comes off as corny or stupid when it’s used in a romantic sense.

The whole meaning of the scene is how Han Solo didn’t have to confront his son, but did. Kylo Ren didn’t want or have to kill his father, but did. It’s a parallel and a contrast to how Darth Vader and Luke had their relationship in the last trilogy. The son wanted to redeem the father, but the father thought it was too late. In the end the father did come back but died. In this trilogy, the father wants to redeem the son, but the son thinks it’s too late. In the end the son doesn’t come back and the father dies.

The meaning of the scene isn’t to show that the character is good. The meaning of the scene is to show that the character has more layers than we thought. Some villains you just enjoy watching because they are unapologetically evil like the Emperor or Joffrey. Other villains you enjoy watching because they are complicated like Darth Vader and Cersei.

A character can be sympathetic, have a family, be abused, and have more layers to them than just a mustache twirling evil prick, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t an evil prick. It just means there is more to them than being an evil prick.

EXACTLY.

themandalorianwolf:

So this bull shit

Poe’s relationship to the Skywalkers:

Gets the map to Luke Skywalker

Tortured by a former Skywalker relative

He’s been working with a Skywalker for years and she’s his mentor!

Finn’s relationship with the Skywalker’s

Worked in the same organization as a Skywalker relative

Worked alongside 2 Skywalker relatives (Han and Leia)

Kylo, a Skywalker relative, is his arch enemy and foil.

Bonus

Finn’s best friend/love interest is the daughter student of Luke Skywalker.

Poe has been working with Leia for years, she’s his mentor.

Finn literally has a relationship with almost all of the Skywalkers, fought with their lightsaber, and started the entire plot of TFA.

This is bull shit that after 4 years Finn and Poe, but especially Finn, have to fight for their relevance in this damn franchise.

Fuck You, Russell Walker.

Finn was also the only character who argued that the Resistance had to go out and help Luke Skywalker against the entire fucking First Order military. You know, despite never having met the guy? It wasn’t the best idea but as Will Smith memorably said, he’s got the spirit.

Leia explicitly passed on her legacy to Poe, just as Luke passed his to Rey. And when Luke gives his “The Rebellion is reborn today” speech–setting aside whether it’s an earned moment–it’s Finn who comes up in the “war is just beginning” line.

Finn has Han’s legacy, part of it. One of the forgotten and downtrodden of the galaxy, the weary and traumatized renegade who very understandably wanted out of the fight and to get what little safety he could for himself, who ultimately came back to the fight because that was the right thing to do.

But Finn goes even beyond that. He was willing to stake his life in people around the galaxy rising up and coming to the Resistance’s aid. He was willing to give himself so there might be a tomorrow. He is the leader and symbol of the antifascist uprising that will come, that must come if there is to be any kind of future. He is the one who will tear apart the First Order’s lies. He is the man Supreme Leader Ren should fear the most, if he has any sense at all (a highly debatable point). Rose saved Finn at the risk of the entire remaining Resistance because she saw him as the hope for the future, mangled and marred as the message was.

And Supreme Butthead? He gets Jack Schitt. He gets Vader, at best, if he finally makes the right choice for once. If he does he may choose a sacrificial death that can never make up for the magnitude of his crimes, or he may get life in prison while his long-dormant conscience eats him alive. With the course he’s currently set himself on he will die defeated, unrepentent, ignoble and unmourned.

Without Finn, Rey, and Poe the Skywalker legacy is shit. It’s ashes and rot and failure. To erase two-thirds of what positivity remains in the Skywalker legacy for reasons that make no fucking sense is repugnant, reductionist, and yeah, racist. It goes against everything the sequel trilogy says it’s about.
