Yes, it is! Posting this so other people know that this person is actually EXTREMELY islamophobic and that that is… actually the whole point of their blog
Thank you for the heads up, I have deleted that post from my blog and encourage others to do the same. This person literally called Islam “the fastest growing cancerous tumor of the human race,” holy shit.
And I know a lot of people don’t give a shit about Islamophobia or try to pass it off as feminism/social justice. Would it give you pause to know that this person is extremely antisemitic as well, and questioned the morality of all religious Jewish people?
You don’t have to scroll that far to find these posts but receipts are below:
(cont) to insinuate that a story like yasmine’s is normal or
common among muslim american women is a disservice and that’s a fault on
the magazine. sorry if it seems like i’m putting this all on you but i
just saw the story put on my dash and have a lot of feelings of how it
was presented, especially when it only furthers the misconceptions
impressionable people who read the magazine have.
How did the forced marriage story say every Palestinian-American Muslim family was like that? The young woman’s family is like that, because they’re clearly an abusive fundamentalist family, but I didn’t catch any implication that it furthered an Islamophobic narrative. In fact, wasn’t it a Muslim friend who was horrified at what she was going through and urged her to call the Embassy?
I don’t get why people hate immigrants so much… Like they’re literally just… People… From another location….
My partner is an immigrant from the UK and still holds his citizenship. At a recent event, an acquaintance talked about how many “immigrants” get jobs over “Canadians” and they shouldn’t allowed to be management (which my partner is). My partner reaches across the table and goes “Hi, immigrant here!” and she goes “Oh I didn’t mean immigrants like you…” And you can so tell they just mean “brown people” or “Asian people” but they pretend it’s about jobs and shit.
That’s the same with my family. We were war immigrants from the soviet union and now live in Germany. Now the syrians are here because they also have war, and people keep asking me why I’m defending them so mercilessly. And when I tell them that my family (that is still alive) has gone through the same bullshit. But they insist that both scenarios are completely different. They’re not different, you’re just racist.
White feminism refers to feminism that fails to be intersectional, especially in regards to race as the name implies. It refers to white women seeking to achieve equality with white men while upholding the structures of white supremacy, thereby excluding women of color from their activism.
Not all feminists who are white are white feminists, and not every white feminist is a white person. Feminists who are white can strive for intersectionality in good faith, while feminists who are not white can still be complicit in white supremacy.
As far as I know the term was coined in the context of Black women’s exclusion from feminism in the U.S. One example from the 19th century is the leaders of the women’s suffrage movement prioritizing white women’s suffrage over that of Black people, even actively stoking white resentment and fear toward Black people to argue for white women’s suffrage. It’s an ongoing problem, obviously, with the experiences and feelings of white women being prioritized in movement feminism and women of color often being ignored, erased, and isolated.
That said, white feminism is not confined to the United States. A prominent European example I can think of is feminist rhetoric being used to justify Islamophobia and speak over Muslim women. In countries that do not have white majorities, such as my native Korea, serious issues with racism and colorism are similarly ignored in mainstream feminism.
Of the 1,864 women murdered in 2010, 91% were killed by men. (by contrast, of the 3,872 men murdered, only 9% were killed by women). Of all the women murdered (by either sex), over a third were killed by a husband or boyfriend. women have legitimate reason to fear men, even the ones they know.
Of the 3,327 white people murdered in 2010, only 13% were killed by black people. 3% were killed by other or unknown races. white people do not have a statistically legitimate reason to fear other races.
women’s fear of men is based in reality, not bigotry. white people’s fear of other races is based in bigotry, not reality.
I’m genuinely outraged about the fact that Black Friday is getting more media coverage than the terrorist attack in a mosque in Egypt where 230 people were killed
