Finn moments in The Last Jedi trailer

I’m super fucking stoked by Finn’s appearances in the trailer. Maybe it’s my theory goggles that Finn is going to start a Stormtrooper uprising, but it seems to me Poe’s line that “We have a spark that will light the fire that will burn the First Order down” is a direct reference to Finn and the possible Stormtrooper rebellion. What’s more, Finn shows up directly after that line, surrounded by, hmmmm, FIRE as he duels Phasma.

Poe seems to be speaking with repressed anger or sorrow (my God Oscar
Isaac’s delivery help me Obi Juan whoever the fuck you are), indicating
that this was spoken in a moment of conflict whether within himself or
someone else.

Could Poe’s clashes with Leia have to do with how to respond to the possible uprising? Did Finn convince Poe into letting himself and Rose to go on a rogue mission and into possible death, a choice Poe is himself conflicted about? Is that why Leia slaps him, when she finds out what he’s done?

Finn, by the way, is not carrying a lightsaber but some kind of energy pike weapon that seems to work similarly to the energy baton–called a tonfa–that FN-2199 used against him in the battle on Takodana. It not only looks freaking badass, it has a great reach, versatility and can stand up to lightsabers, too. (Thanks @secondtolastjedi for the correction!) This wouldn’t be the first time we saw Finn take a weapon off a Stormtrooper, and I love love love the symbolism here of Finn using the weapons of the First Order against it.

Also the all-black ensemble with a glowy energy weapon…. is anyone going to comment on the similarities with Luke in ROTJ? As I said in my reply to @diversehighfantasy, I see parallels with Luke in my TLJ speculation for Finn, too, particularly my wildly speculative ending.

Furthermore, when Snoke starts saying “Fulfill your destiny” the first shot is directly on Finn, although I think the line itself is said to Rey or Kylo. Is this a sideways reference to Finn’s liberating Stormtroopers being his destiny?

Luke/Sana – Birds Set Free, by Aurora Lynne

Hey sweeties! So, recently I’ve seen a lot of people jumping on the “Finn Skywalker” boat, and I have to say I absolutely love this theory. But somehow I haven’t seen anyone talking about a possible Luke Skywalker/Sana Starros romance? I mean, think of all the possibilities! Our little space muffin dealing with a firecracker like Sana 😀

I’m digging this ship, hope you enjoy!

The theory that Sana might be Finn’s mom really bugged me till I saw this art.

I still don’t think she is in canon, but I might secretly fanon the hell out of this.

Shut up past me, Finn is a Starros-Skywalker.

The character development we all deserve

ONE OF KYLO’S LINES IN BATTLEFRONT 2 IS “SHE TURNED DOWN HER FATHER TOO” REY SKYWALKER CONFIRMED

That line is reported to be “She turned on her father, too,” and it also sounds that way to me. It seems to be a reference to Leia’s enmity with Vader, especially since in another line Kylo Ren accuses Luke of betraying Vader. Alternately, as @skywalkerapologist pointed out, it may be a reference to Iden, the lead character in the game.

I doubt the line is about Rey, and even if it were it doesn’t point to Luke as the father since Rey has not turned on Luke in TFA. If she does in TLJ (which I don’t think she will), the game would not give away such a major plot point in the lead-up to the movie’s release.

How was Luke even affected by his “father’s” death? Vader was barely a person and never loved Luke in the first place. Kylo used to love Han, but Snoke tore them apart and caused Han to go smuggling.

There is such a thing as mourning a relationship you might have had, a person you could have known but never got to. Children of abusive or absent parents can attest to this very well. Not every person who had a bad or neglectful parent feels this grief for what might have been, of course. They might, indeed, feel nothing or even relief at the death of that parent. Leia, for instance, doesn’t seem to have felt much af a connection to Vader or particular grief at his death for very understandable reasons–she grew up with parents she knew and loved, for one thing–and I am very glad that her response is presented to be as valid as Luke’s.

That said, the fact that some children of inadequate or hurtful parents feel no grief at their parents’ passing does not invalidate the pain that other such children feel at the same event. I’m frankly angry that you feel the need to devalue Luke’s very real grief at losing a father he had dreamed of since childhood. And for what? To woobify the mass-murdering patricidal Vader fanboy?

So here’s an exceedingly modest proposal for you, anon: There is no need to shit on Luke’s loss to empathize with Kylo Ren’s.

Here’s modest proposal number 2: If you don’t want to lose your father, NOT SHOVING A DEADLY WEAPON INTO HIS GUTS IS A FUCKING GOOD START.
