Article 62 of the North Korean Constitution:

“A citizen is under the
protection of the
Democratic People’s Republic of Korea regardless of their domicile.“

What should be a comforting reminder just sounds menacing given that this is North Korea we’re talking about.

Also why do they have the Three Musketeers motto in their Constitution

Obviously this whole document is a giant Lie but there are times when the mask slips and these bozos can’t even LIE correctly. Like.

“Citizens have the freedom of religion.” (Big lie)

“Freedom of religion is like buildings and woo-woo ceremonies, right?” (Breathtaking ignorance and inadequacy of coverage)

“Oh by the way, literally the two most-used excuses for suppressing religious freedom will be the exceptions to this totally real freedom of religion 🙂 trust us :)” (…Actually a little bit impressed at the unexpected honesty)

with the summit going on, I really hope tumblr and white/western folks dont start doing some shit like making north/south korean jokes, kim jong-un jokes, or a ‘thinkpiece’ acting like they know more than korean people about the issue. I am so so tired of white/western people trivializing and desensitizing the history of american imperialism and outright deciding to ignore it and start making memes and shit. I really hope they don’t do that. Especially after The Interview movie was released, too

If anything Americans and Europeans should look to their own history on this. Like how the victors of WWII split the Korean peninsula in half at the Yalta Conference, and how the U.S. military government looked the other way while the South Korean military, police, and right-wing militia tortured and slaughtered thousands of Koreans on accusation of being Communist sympathizers because they protested the U.S. military’s misrule and the decision to hold South Korea-only elections without North Korea. I have read the testimonies of the survivors from the massacres in Jeju Island and the idea of the United States as a bastion of justice and human rights can go die in a fucking fire.

Rather than spout off on shit they know nothing about, the West needs to look at their own role in creating this divide and brutally putting down resistance to it. My country was torn apart for the sake of U.S. and Soviet expedience and I don’t want any Westerner’s hot take about Korea when they refuse to look inward at themselves and how they helped create this crisis in the first place.

Non-American students:

Do y’all get bomb threats a lot? Because my school does and rn we’re confined to our classrooms and we can’t leave and we aren’t even alarmed

Does it count when a little man with a bad haircut periodically threatens to annihilate your country? Other than that, none.

Ok I thought so. Sorry about the constant nuclear war threats, that’s gotta suck

I mean this recent spate is unusually bad and potentially dangerous, but generally it’s pretty tolerable. I’d be more scared about school bomb threats, if only because they’d be a novelty. I hope everything is fine, they generally turn out okay from what I’ve heard.

Are you guys blaming her for the actions of her brother

Here’s the thing

A lot of NK like, KNOWS they have it bad. And they also know they can’t do shit or else not only will THEY end up in the Gulag, so will, what, five generations of their family?

Unless she has a direct hand in those actions, enlighten me if she does, then she’s in the same scenario.

Also you’re ignoring what a huge leap it is for North Korea to do ANY kind of diplomacy like this.

She’s the leader of propaganda. Of course she has a hand in it. Her whole family is pure evil and the reason North Korea is such a hell hole.

In the Kim Jong family, you’re either in on the business, or you’re dead. There’s nothing in between.

Have you seen this shit? Truly we are in the bizarro world.

I have. She’s no victim, either. She’s 100% complicit: https://amp.theguardian.com/world/2017/oct/09/kim-yo-jong-sister-brains-behind-kim-jong-uns-image

Yeah. Kiss my ass.

No, we’re blaming her for her own actions. She’s in the very heart of North Korea’s power structure, and ran their Politbureau meeting when Kim Jong-Un was sick. She was a vice minister in the government and rose to her brother’s chief of staff. She is not only a complicit beneficiary from the regime’s crimes against North Koreans, she also runs the place along with her family.

Dude.

I know.

I was quoting someone else in the thread.

Oh crap, I’m sorry. The original quote wasn’t super clear to me.
