I thought the “Poe Dameron” court martial at sdcc was a rumor but after googling it apparently it’s happening? Um, why???? Is this necessary? At LF wtaf are yall doing? Who is driving this thing??

This event is run by Legal Geeks, which is a certified trash fire that wrote a prosecutorial closing argument calling Finn a coward and traitor http://thelegalgeeks.com/2017/12/14/the-case-against-finn/ but does not have a single thing to say about Kylo Ren or The First Order’s crimes. At least they got it right on the Death Stars. http://thelegalgeeks.com/2017/12/10/rebel-terrorists-the-legality-of-blowing-up-two-death-stars/

Let’s put Rian Johnson on trial instead

When I told my husband about this event he laughed out loud and said it sounded like it was put together by fans critical of TLJ and the direction Poe’s character took. Oh you poor innocent man, I wish I lived in your world.

This honestly is beyond upsetting. This guy doesn’t even WORK for Lucasfilms and they’re letting him do this?? Why? Just…..why?? Was there an overwhelming outcry from the fanbase for Poe Dameron’s court martial that I mysteriously missed?

Poe Dameron is a fan favorite with a devoted fan base why are they putting him on blast like this? Are they trying to thrive of the potential controversy of it all? Or do they just not care? They treat the Sequel characters like shit, they treat the Original characters like shit. They treat their ACTORS like shit and just……this is beyond infuriating.

Not to mention the fact that this doesn’t make sense in canon either.

1) we don’t know if there’s a government authority that would even recognize this court martial because LF has told us FUCK ALL about what’s happened to the New Republic after the Hosnian catalyst.

2) The Resistance is a paramilitary. They are not beholden to the same kinds of rules of engagement that a government sanctioned military would be

3) under WHOSE authority in the Resistance is this court martial under? Holdo? Dead. Leia? I will flip a truck if this is the case. There can’t be any other authority figures because Rian killed them all.

4) Who brought up the charges? You mean to tell that the Resistance survivors would be okay with this court martial? All ten of them? And I’m pretty sure a good chunk of the survivors are Poe’s fellow mutineers

This is a steaming pile of bantha shit and the only upside is potentially seeing folks on social media rip LF a new asshole for this.

Poe Dameron doesn’t deserve this.

And you know what, neither does Oscar

5) Leia is the ONLY authority left in the Resistance to order a court martial (and they are involving her character in this travesty, according to this schedule page), but she explicitly handed over leadership to Poe at the end. Then she’s going to turn right around and want him behind bars for… takesie backsies? Wtf?

LF isn’t actually running this as far as I can tell, it’s a fan event, but I’ll bet LF thinks this is hi-larious.

Videos will be posted on Poe Dameron’s mock court-martial from SDCC and I’ll find time to watch it. Hopefully they’ll do a decent job, at least.

Excuse me…

¿Qué es esta gringada?

Decent job at what, exactly… The resistance is a volunteer army, a militia, like

But I see the demonizing Poe Dameron trend is alive and well

A reylow? Being an ugly derailing bitch on a post about Poe and Kes? It’s more likely than you think!

Watching TFA for the thousandth time and…

Noticed Poe is the one who killed Finn’s bestfriend:

Poe shot and subsequently killed “Slip”, FN-2003, who was Finn’s bestfriend and someone Finn looked after often.

Kinda sad, honestly…I wonder if Finn will ever figure it out or if it will ever become a problem for them as friends down the line?

I think it’ll be addressed off screen, if not already. It’s one of the reasons I enjoy their friendship because it’s not sunshine and rainbows. It’s a complicated one between 2 people who were raised with two different beliefs.

Slip wasn’t Finn’s best friend he was just a fellow cadet he looked out for. Finn didn’t have any friends in the First Order.

The “Before the Awakening Book” didn’t paint them as best friends, but they were as close as the First Order allowed. Finn was close to his squad but considered an outsider due to his superior skill and morale conflicts. Something Slip, Zero, and Nines resented him for.

Even more chilling, a foot to the side and it would have been Finn.
