“The daughter of a legendary thief, who sewed winter coats out of stolen purses. Herself a thief, pickpocket, swindler. The saviour who came to tear my life apart. My Tamako. My Sookee.“
This is hands down one of my favorite scenes in the Force Awakens. One reason being it helps to validate the theory of a force sensitive Finn. He is able to hears the screams of the people in Hosnian system. Before he ever turns around to see the red beam in the sky.
Second and most important this scene is where I feel Finn truly shows us how much of a hero he is. Seeing the destruction of the Hosnian systems he knows the F.O. is behind it. Meaning there more than likely on there way to attack. So what does he decide to do?
He chooses to be selfless and go back to help Han, Chewie, and Rey. Something he has absolutely no obligation to do. Finn rightly deserve to leave behind all of this destruction and heartache. He deserves to be somewhere safe after all of the horror he has been subjected to in his life. He doesn’t owe anybody hes not with the rebellion there is nothing for him to gain by helping Rey, Han and Chewie. Yet he chooses to go back and protect a group of people he’s just met. He does this because he is a kind and compassionate man. A man who has every right to leave all this destruction behind yet still chooses to save others at the risk of his own life. Finn is a truly kind and amazing person and this scene helps cement that fact.
I think that there’s a certain level of… piercing of hope that I want to give to people who I hope feel seen. I was like, I want to come through the screen and say, “I see you. You see me. I’m here for you.” I think that’s what it is. I’m trying to allow my energy to permeate to the audience and whoever is watching… I want you to feel my soul, I want you to feel my truth, I want you to feel my love, I want you to… to feel something.
You guys remember Daisy’s comment about how romance in EP VIII was about being in love with your friends?
And how Rey is constantly worried about Finn in TLJ? “…and ask about Finn.”
Finn and Rey’s beacon parallels?
How even when she was about to surrender herself to the FO, her mind was STILL on Finn’s well-being? “If you see Finn before I do, tell him[…]yeah, perfect. Tell him that.”
And how even John Boyega himself said that Rey’s look at the end “said it all,” dispelling the whole “Rey friendzoned Finn” arguments?
Makes you wonder who Rey’s in love with, doesn’t it?
so for the all female focused film, Imma need the fantastic Danai Gurira to reprise her role in “All Eyez On Me” as Afeni Shakur, one of the Panther 21
I would also cast Kerry Washington as Elaine Brown, The first and only female chief
I would further cast Britne Oldford to play Kathleen Cleaver, The first woman of the party’s decision making cabinet
throw in a scene of a young woman from Chicago, named Chaka…insisting on joining the party
Ericka huggins joined the Black Panther Party aged only 20 years old. I would cast Zendaya to play her
Nicole Beharie as Assata Shakur, the revolutionary that found her way to liberation to Cuba
Fredricka Newton joined the BPP in her teens and went on to become Huey Newton’s partner.
I imagine Naomie Harris as Fredricka
As for the legendary activist Angela Davis, I’d give those big shoes to Zazie Beetz
