Imagine if Finn and Rey’s romance isn’t some dramatic development but a quiet, matter-of-fact one. They’re talking early in Episode IX, which probably has a time skip, and before she leaves Rey leans over to give Finn a kiss on the lips because they’ve been dating for a while and it’s nbd. The audience goes apeshit while the everyone on screen is completely nonchalant and, oops, there’s a crisis to get to. What a power move.
Benjamin Sisko was bummed (but still supportive!) when Jake wouldn’t follow in his footsteps as a Starfleet officer. I wonder, though, did he think about his alternate 20th century self, the talented science fiction author who was ground down by racism?
Jake did follow his father’s legacy, it’s just that neither of them knew it at the time.
