finn managed to unconsciously, with zero training and also brainwashing and presumably force suppression, move the rocks away while rey only did that after a few failed lessons with luke and weird Force Angst™ with kylo so Um tell me again who the stronger force user is

Also sensed the deaths in Hosnia and knew where they had taken place when Rey didn’t. A novice Luke didn’t sense the destruction of Alderaan and Obi-Wan–a freaking Jedi MASTER trained from childhood–sensed what happened but didn’t realize (or didn’t want to believe) it was Alderaan. Repeat: An untrained Finn surpassed a Jedi Master at Force sensitivity.

god tier theory is that finn and rey were raised side by side in luke’s jedi temple until kale snapped

Luke watches the children from afar: they giggle as they run circles around the older students, the girl trying hard to keep up with the slightly older boy as they dart around the meditating students whose eyes are pinched shut in focus.

Two of his own blood – the oldest boy fidgets as he meditates – the others not, but he loves them all nonetheless.

(After all, as a young man he’d gazed upon the most fearsome visage in the galaxy without hatred. These children, the stars that would bring light to the future – they deserve nothing less.)

He doesn’t chastise the two young ones. They’re children, and children deserve to run, grow their wings, before they can use the Force to fly. He’d felt caged by the sand dunes on Tatoonie, but now he understands that the love he’d been gifted under the roof of the Lars family home is the most precious thing in the galaxy.

The boy screeches to a halt when he realizes Luke is watching them.

“‘orry Master Luke,” he says bashfully, gaze cast towards his feet. If it wasn’t for his dark complexion Luke knows his ears would be a bright red.

The girl, never far from her beloved friend, careens into him. She half-giggles, half-gasps for air, then turns to face her mentor.

“We weren’t being loud – we, we didn’t disturb the older kids. Like you told us – like we promised!”

“Indeed,” Luke replies, crouching forward to meet the girl at eye level. His hands covers his knees and Luke can’t help but notice the girl’s eyes flicker briefly towards his mechanical hand. “You’ve shown restraint and an intent to keep your word, both important Jedi traits.”

The girl gives him a gap toothed grin, while the boy lifts his eyes to meet Luke’s gaze. Their eyes sparkle like twin suns.

When Luke makes it out of the ruins, all he sees are flames and smoke.

Then bodies.

Then the lightsaber wounds.

There are less bodies than students – when he counts the lightsabers, he knows where they’ve gone.

The rest are dead. He knows it, felt their flames go out. All that’s left is ash.

Except – except two.

The girl clings to his robes, tears streaming down her face and soot smudged across her forehead. She cries for her friend, cries out his name, cries for the dead, cries for the luck that had kept her away from the dorms.

He wipes her mind of the trauma, forces her gifts into hiding. He sends her away, knowing that together they’re a more noticeable target. This star, the one that shines bright with kindness and burns with resilience, goes out.

He reaches out one last time before he goes into hiding. The other star, the one that shines bright with promise and burns with compassion  – he can no longer find it. He’s gone, but not in the way the other children were extinguished. He was not snuffed out, the flame didn’t slowly dwindle away as life left his body. No screams of terror, no shaky last breaths.

No – he was cut off abruptly, like the girl. But this was not Luke’s doing. More sinster forces are at work.

(He knows what Imperial reconditioning can do. He knows of the ever-growing list of missing children. He fears it.)

Luke sighs, prosthetic hand curling into a fist.

Then he cuts himself off.

He trusts the Force to know when to awaken them.

The last Jedi sits alone on Atch-to.

No, not the last.

First one star reignites, then the other. Luke can feel the twin suns rise.

Hope and Love will return to the galaxy.

Luke knows it.

Well thanks for BREAKING MY HEART

alright, i’m speaking it into existence now

Finn will leave his mark in Episode IX by either

A) Inspiring a massive Stormtrooper Rebellion that saves the day once the good guys are backed into a corner

and/or

B) Helping Rey save the day by defeating the Knights of Ren after she’s ambushed by them during her final confrontation with Kylo.

(and then they’ll kiss)

like/reblog to charge/cast that positive energy! 🔥

I hope it’s A) because I want Finn to have a storyline of his own.

True talk

The only reason why Rey thinks Kyle might be redeemable in TLJ is because of Finn. Think about it:

In the TFA, as soon as Finn and Rey became an alliance, he always put her needs first, which she has never experienced in her life before. When Finn explains himself to Rey, she understands his situation of being is a man who was orphaned, tortured and conditioned into being a foot soldier for the evil. But even despite this and his obvious fear of the First Order, he puts his neck on the line to save Rey and the Resistance time and time again from joining the resistance mission to fighting Kyle.

No wonder she thought Kyle could be redeemed because if Finn, who has without a doubt suffered more in his lifetime than Kyle has, can take a stand toward the light and be a goddamn hero then any decent person can.

Only problem is Kyle isn’t a decent person and certainly isn’t nearly as good as Finn is.

Hey op you realize Kylo and Finn two different characters right. Both went through abuse Kylo( Snoke) and Finn( Fo) both of their abuse were different. This literally like “ good survivor” vs “ bad survivor” Both have their own arcs and paths

Like abuse people pick up signs different. Not everyone is lucky to noticed let alone get out when they have chance. Finn saw a chance and got out however it’s not quite same for Kylo.

You don’t need pit these two characters against each other. You don’t need to lift Finn up while pushing Kylo down.

Dislike Kylo fine but it’s really not needed to say why you like Finn.

People who compare abuse survivors and say UWU one should do better because another succeeded are the scummiest assholes who have no comprehension of how hard it is to recover.

This literally sounds so god damn ableist. What the fuck, OP

Some people?? commit mass murder?? to cope???

Alan Dean Foster – writer of TFA novelisation – on Finn and Rey

stormscavenger:

Did you have a favourite character to write in the new ‘Star Wars’ generation of characters?

Alan Dean Foster: There is always a favourite. Obi-Wan Kenobi is that one, but I really like Rey. I think she is a good central character, I think I may write her differently in some ways, but any writer would probably say that, otherwise you’d just have clones of the original writer. She is interesting and resourceful and hopefully her background will be developed in different ways and in more detail. I would have gone a different way with her in the recent film, but a lot of people would say that.

I also like the character of Finn, he is very under developed and there is an enormous amount of potential there for his character. His character harks back to the people in the German army fighting who disagreed with what was going on, but I think there is a lot of internal conflict there that needs to be explored other than just kind of using him, as you will, occasional comic relief and he seems to be a filler right now. We don’t know what he is thinking or what is going on and he just exists to advance the plot at certain points. I think he is a much more interesting character than that.

Wow, even Alan disagrees with how they’ve been treated lately. Isn’t that something?

anytime i see someone refer to kylo ren as “ben solo” my fight or flight response is activated

Oh ho? Interesting.

https://www.reddit.com/r/starwarsspeculation/comments/81rpnu/rey_hasnt_given_up_on_kylos_turn_she_just/

Hilariously Reylos didn’t notice this change in Rey’s perception of Ben Solo back to Kylo Ren.  Just as they missed the part where it says she stood over him and contemplated killing him.  Nor did they pick up on the reasoning for sparing him having nothing to do with her feelings but everything to do with the will of the force.

Add to this the end where she severs their force link with no compassion and we have a decent picture of Rey’s feelings: she won’t kill him while the force has a purpose for him, but she’s not going to care about his feelings anymore.

What?! She actually thought about killing him while he was unconscious? So… Hux was also reflecting – in film – what Rey thought about doing against him! 🤔

At this point, it is very clear how their relationship is moving forward. Reylo happening on IX and beyond would basically be… a retconif it happens. So it’s really “dead” at this point. 👀

You know, I remember some twit quoting Gandalf’s line about not being too eager to deal out death to those who deserve it, and applying it to Kylo. This line referred to Gollum, whose life Frodo did in fact spare. If Rey’s sparing Kylo similarly leads to him being alive to do something selfish and evil that inadvertently saves the galaxy and causes his horrible death, I’m all for it.
