I know this is super wishful thinking, but considering the story group has to have some control over the movies, I want to hope Kylo’s story is really interesting and deep, and Rian talks about him a lot because he’s proud of it. It’s just anything he says about it sounds terrible for NDA reasons.

Like I said, I don’t like it much. I still hope and believe Finn will be awesome and central, but yeah, I do think this is the sort of shit this franchise would pull.
It makes sense given the marketing. If this is the story, I could see a portion of the GA pulling away a la Olafs Frozen Adventure, and there would be some backlash. Right now especially there is a general distaste for fascism right now at least in America because of Trump. We are super sensitive to it because its all around, so this kind of ‘twist’ would not sit right with many people, even if they werent able to articulate it.
And they would deserve every bit of the backlash. Heck, whether they go with this sort of thing or not, Rian already deserves all the flak he gets for his furious fascist fellatio.
I keep telling my frustrations elsewhere but to put them frankly (and in one spot), the main reason I tweeted him was because I’m tired of another interview, another teaser trailer, another thing that just highlights Kylo Ren and tries to make him more human. I’m tired of hearing about his parents being the main source of his demise. It was interesting in the beginning about Snoke because it was similar to Palpatine but now it’s just like well he’s just an angry teenaged boy who kills ppl bc of his parents 🙂😍😍🙂😍🙂😍 he’s 30. He’s a grown man. He’s the antagonist. He is not the protagonist. He is a part of a fascist regime and participates actively. I just got tired.
As a filmmaker myself I have to be aware of what my work is effecting in the real world bc everything exists and affects the world in real ways. Hearing about kr and him being human is the same as nyt posting about the neonazi this weekend. So like yeah I’m angry. Yeah I told him to retire. And sticking by it.

If we’re being super real, it’s probably FinnRose so they don’t have to “”“burden”“” Rey with a love interest (ie interracial relationship). Finn and Rose will fight on their mission and then come to respect and then love each other, calling it now.
So once again when addressing why there’s no central romance to TLJ, Rian Johnson recently stated, “after the ending moments of ‘The Force Awakens,’ each character was beginning to walk their own path” similar to John’s comments about Finn and Rey being on separate journeys this time, and comparing it to a long-distance relationship.
And he makes yet ANOTHER comparison to how it’s not like Han and Leia’s romance in ESB (where the two love interests spend a majority of the episode together).
I’m sorry but the topic of the romance not being central to TLJ literally only applies to FinnRey because we know that Kylo is a major part of Rey’s arc and Rose is a major part of Finn’s arc (and both play a big role in developing the characters).
Finn and Rey are the only heroes who are specifically on different journeys this time around, and that’s why, while he said that there is some romantic drama involved (like Finn waking up and screaming Rey’s name), it won’t be the main theme of the episode itself.

He murdered women and children in a fit of rage. War crime.
He murdered his wife in a fit of jealous rage. Domestic abuse.
He murdered the children of his adoptive family, the Jedi Order, because someone told him too. War crime.
He tried to murder his best friend in a jealous, berserk rage. Attempted murder.
He stayed with a genocidal, slave-holding, oppressive government ‘cause he was too chicken to kill Palpatine himself. Accessory to multiple crimes. Conspiracy to commit same. Actual commission of same.
Yeah, Vader started out with good intentions. Yeah, his motivations are at least arguably more sympathetic than Kylo’s. But make no mistake: Anakin and Kylo made the exact same call, and committed the exact same crimes. And both are defined by their extreme, unreasonable, and immoral reaction to events.
Because that’s what makes them fucking villains.
I 100% agree with you. Thats why im not taking away from the fact that anakin WAS in fact a villain and im not going to contradict anyhing you said above because you are 100% correct. My whole point is that underneath all that fucked up shit anakin did there was a noble motivation to save his wife and thats why he let himself be consumed by the darkside which ironically is what kills his wife. When you compare that to “my mom and dad have careers and dont pay attention to me” you should want to slap him for even daring to compare himself to anakin.
Im not saying anakin is a hero. Anakin is a villain but hes a WELL WRITTEN villain and i LOVE HIS VILLAIN ASS FOR THAT compared to kylos petulent childish motivations(if kylos motivations are really what adam driver says they are). Im not saying anakin is good in anyway shape or form, hes bad but at least his reasons make me “damn poor anakin”.
