My reaction has always been that they’re both so awful they deserve each other. With Kyle being Hug’s superior now it’s gained all sorts of gross undertones, but at least the shippers stay in their lane and don’t rub their disgusting crap all over the universe, nor do they swarm creators needily seeking “proof.”
For me it’s six of one, half a dozen of the other. You just exchange misogyny (reylo) for homophobic fetishization (kylux). And those who don’t think there’s a copious amount of
homophobic fetishization in kylux should go look at the content.
Their popularity is for the exact same reason, racism. The willful ignorance or just straight up apologia for the First Order is exactly the same too. Shippers are on a whole just as obnoxious and toxic to anyone who dares not like their ship. And frankly I’m fed up with Kylux shippers in the Finnpoe tag as well, they’ve even taken to invading Finnrey because “look how inclusive and woke we are by including an interracial pairing in one paragraph, of course we can put it in the main pairing tag”.
After TLJ a lot of them even taken to shipping Poe with Hux and writing fics where Poe by definition dumps Finn for the fascist, yet still puts it in the Finnpoe tag.
So nah, they’re not really any different. The fact that most Kylux shippers are aware that their pairing isn’t going to be canon is hardly enough to consider them better in my opinion.

I have said, and repeated for a later ask, that age is ONE factor. It’s the age gap in addition to the violence and manipulation in the reylow “relationship” that I find so unhealthy. And yeah, the age gap is one reason I don’t like Han x Leia that much, although I’ve come around to it a little more since.
As for the other part of your ask… oh anon. Poor, poor anon. I don’t know what to tell you but…
You see, Han and Leia are actually 13 years apart: Leia was 19 and Han was 32 when they met. Rey was 19 and Kylo 29 when they met, putting them 10 years apart like you said.
So who is 13 years older than Rey, that is 32 years old, when they met? Who shares the exact same age gap as Han and Leia?

This is beyond disappointing. Luke/Nakari are Luke’s only canon ship right now. They also had a tragic ending that should be fodder for fix fics as well as the usual AUs and conventions.
@aryainwinterfell I am striving to give fandom the benefit of the doubt, that maybe Nakari is a comics-only character and that makes her less well known. Even that excuse doesn’t hold true for the Lando ships, however, so like… yeah, beyond disappointing.

all of u damereys follow this pattern:
they send ppl anonymous asks pretending to be against damerey (usually they claim to be finnrey/finnpoe shippers or finn fans in general). they will take any information concerning finn or poe or rey and twist it into how it makes them very “anxious” that damerey is going to be canon. I’ll look through my asks as well to link the examples but it’s happened time and time again. Recently when TLJ came out and poe and rey greeted one another at the end they claimed to be so scared that damerey was canon. Then before the poe dameron comics featured the trio they were in peoples inboxes once again about how “anxious” they feel about damerey being canon. And now this. It’s such an obvious tactic lmfao. Cause no one but rando anons feel this way and they bait us into talking about it like damerey is even remotely relevant or has even the tiniest chance of happening. Spare me. Ya’ll stop falling for this and hit these “anxious NOT damerey shippers I swear!” with a swift block. Theres more than enough to worry about when it comes to SW like Finns very real sidelining, we don’t need to entertain these people. If ya’ll really got concerns post it on your own tumblrs and stop going to popular bloggers to be your mouth piece. But I suspect that’s not gonna happen cause ya’ll are for sure damereys. Anti: As it happens I’m an abuse survivor too, and I try to stay away from your ship because it brings back painful memories. I also push back against abuse apologist arguments for your ship because that same logic has been used to hurt me and others in real life.

Where in the post do I mention anyone telling anyone else not to ship something? Maybe read again without defensive lens. This post is about the hypocrisy of certain shippers saying only their type of coping through fiction is valid, and people with different reactions to their ship are losers who can’t distinguish between fiction and reality.
