Please tell me you’re not an OT3 person? That exists to cut Finn out and stick Rey and Poe together. Do Not Want.

fyeahfinnrey:

well, ultimately i am a finnrey person šŸ™‚ but this blog is pro poe (and pro rose too) and most of the ot3 stuff i reblog/post is platonic and if it isn’t i always try to make sure that it is finn at the center bc that is the only way the ot3 makes sense to me – the thing rey and poe have in common is a shared love of finn (and bb8).Ā

For me the only valid OT3 is V-shaped with Finn dating Rey and Poe.

Reylo fandom is literally just Zutara fandom all over again, the Master Checklist:

tarisilmarwen:

1. Immediate fixation on the moderately attractive torturedĀ ā€œbad boyā€ antagonist character and rush to ship him with the closest available female protagonist.Ā  CHECK.

2. Downplaying/excusing antagonist’s misdeeds especially in regards to the way he treats female protagonist.Ā Ā

CHECK.

3. Ignoring/leapfrogging over said female protagonist’s much more likely actual love interest and coming up with bullshit reasons/excuses for why he’s actually the abusive/toxic one!Ā Ā

CHECK.

4. Cropping/editing out the more prospective love interest from photos/footage in order to create romantic moments for their ship, because as of yet none exist.Ā Ā

CHECK.

5. Claiming purple as their ship color.Ā Ā

CHECK.

6. Weird obsession with red/blue color symbolism and super-strong genetically superior offspring.Ā  (ā€Steambabiesā€, ā€œStormbabiesā€, ā€œForcebabiesā€)Ā Ā

CHECK.

7.Ā ā€œEnglish Literatureā€ majors crawling out of the woodwork to spew 5000K+ words of bullshitĀ ā€œprovingā€ why their ship is obviously, objectively, canon endgame, typically by over-microanalyzing literal seconds of footage or making false comparisons to tropes/relationship archetypes in other completely unrelated properties.Ā Ā

CHECK.

8. Somehow, in the middle of all this super-detailed analysis, completely missing the characters’ actual thoughts and feelings and the much more obvious hints towards the other much more likely romance.Ā Ā

CHECK.

9. Beauty and the Beast comparisons.Ā Ā

CHECK.

10. Romeo and Juliet comparisons.Ā Ā

CHECK.

11. Pride and Prejudice comparisons.Ā  (WHAT IS PEOPLE’S FIXATION WITH THIS ONE?!Ā  I’VE READ THE BOOK IT’S NOT THAT GREAT.)Ā Ā

CHECK.

12. Attempts to compare their ship to other canon ships in the same fandom despite them not actually being alike.Ā Ā

CHECK.

13. Mistaken belief that their rival ship is boring and has no conflict because it’s a fluffy feelgood ship stemming from friendship rather than the enemies to lovers trope.Ā Ā

CHECK.

14. Mistaken belief that their ship would be somethingĀ ā€œfreshā€ andĀ ā€œnewā€ā€¦ despite points 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12.Ā Ā

CHECK.

15.Ā  Misunderstanding Yin/Yang symbology.Ā Ā

CHECK.

16. Romanticizing a plot event where the antagonist has the female protagonist captured and restrained and is plying her for information.Ā Ā

CHECK.

17. Romanticizing the enmity between the two parties and claiming it is ā€œsexual tensionā€, instead of animosity, indifference, and hatred.Ā Ā

CHECK.

18. Chronic inability to remain in their own lanes/spaces by hijacking general threads and crosstagging.Ā Ā

CHECK.

19. Every word out of a writer/director/actor’s mouth is indisputable proof in favor of their ship, even if they are explicitly denying the ship being a thing.Ā Ā

CHECK.

20. Literally everything is hidden proof of their ship.Ā  Everything.Ā  (The freaking Porgs?!Ā  Really?!)Ā Ā

CHECK.

21. Easily deceived by misleading advertising/trailers.Ā Ā

CHECK.

22. Nuclear bitchfit meltdown when their ship inevitably, predictably, does not happen.Ā  PENDING.

…

I… I swear I’m in deja-vu world.

Oh my god, I knew there was overlap in the fandoms and a lot of similarities but i never realized just HOW much of a Zutara 2.0 the Reylo fandom is.

Yesterday a Reylo, Today An Anti

Hey anti-Reylo fam, I’m switching over to your side. I’m sure some of my Reylo followers are going to be pissed (pls don’t hurt me, I still get why you ship it since I was there just yesterday).

As these clips of Kylo and Rey keep popping up, I’ve noticed an eerie resemblance between Kylo’s mannerisms and those of my abusive ex.

I think part of why I shipped it was because, subconsciously, I knew there was that connection and I wanted it to work out in this situation – sort of a vicarious happy ending… but, the more I’ve looked into meta-analyses on both sides (a productive way to spend finals week) I can’t bring myself to ship it anymore. Maybe my feelings will change once I see TLJ, but as of now, I am finally seeing Kylo as the manipulative man that he is, trying to get his way by using a young girl.

After TFA I shipped Finnrey, and now I’m like ā€œwait why did I stop? How did I get swept up in this?ā€

Anyway, SW fandom, I hope that everyone can still enjoy TLJ even if it isn’t what we wanted. I get that people are attached to the series and characters, but let’s not be vulgar with one another.

I completely understand the urge to work out a bad past situation vicariously, goodness knows I’ve tried it before and in real life no less. I hope you’re able to heal in a way that gives you peace and happiness.

hi yeah this is one of roachpatrols friends, who frequently gives advice to survivors & mentally ill ppl online

wether or not he meant this jokingly doesnt matter, in light of what roachpatrol’s been saying about teenagers, this is fucking repulsive

this is the same asshole that has a thing about priests and altar boys & drew countless arts of necrophilia and shit so yeah they’re just all around repugnant

oh yea they told me a survivor that I abused people as a coping mechanism by criticizing media and toxic ships, compared me to a pyschopath, accused me of changing my url to hide from shippers, and defended fictional cp saying it wasĀ ā€œbetter than irl cpā€

they also accused my friend of faking her add to avoid the argument bc she cant read long walls of text.Ā

I hope they get arrested and thrown in jail.

People are still out there acting like everyone who hates roach-///patrol and her buddies are on some sort of crusade against her for no reason, and I’d like to remind everyone that she and most – if not all – of her friends are fucking vile and enjoy tearing into young survivors because how DARE someone not support child porn.

You know, I’ve hardly ever liked the canon ships in Star Wars. I was more for Luke x Leia than Hon x Leya, and I thought Anidalus had less chemistry than a frozen chicken leg. I’m ok with Rebelcaptain and adore Spiritassassin, so um… I guess what I’m saying is, I’m cursed. If Finnrey happens it’ll be the first SW canon ship I am completely excited to root for where the characters survive. (Have I just doomed us all?)

But the thing is, shipping never put me off SW. I may not have liked the OT and PT main ships and I may be salty forever about the RO crew’s deaths, but none of them broke the franchise for me. These were all plots that made sense and were adequately foreshadowed, and I’ve warmed to Hamaleya a little since seeing the OT again.

What would have broken Star Wars for me was something like Leia falling for Vader (yes, romantically), or the prequels portraying Palpatine’s manipulation of Anakin as love. These developments would have been so disgusting and shocking I would have stopped supporting Star Wars, and I suspect many others would have joined me.

For all that Ryelosers compare their ship to Honk x Letter or Amydalton (not to mention Elizabeth x Darcy and Belle x Beast and Esmeralda x Froll- wait that last one actually works), it’s really not. It’s Leider. It’s Palpakin. It would be so outrageous and confusing it would alienate audiences and destroy what Star Wars stands for.

The only people who think this is a ship war are Ryebread shippers themselves and people who just don’t get it. Star Wars has had ship wars before, and survived. This isn’t about a ship war but about story integrity, and given SW’s influence it’s about culture, too.

ReyL* fandom gives be brutal flashbacks to the whole TJL/C thing that swept j0hnl0ck fandom. Even they made every single promo, interview, word, stray strand in a frame as clue or foreshadowing ship being canon. As a fellow johnl0cker I was embarassed and frightened to even say anything against that ship becoming canon, not without being called names or being mocked by the believers, it was just horrid. When it didn’t happen their blacklash was ugly, saying they’d better ideas than show writers!

@bbcumbercutey replied:

lj-writes:

Noah Fence but the way I hear the show went (I dropped it at the pilot) having better ideas than the writers seems like a low bar. That’s what fanfiction is for, though, right? I get wanting a ship to be canon–and I’m a lot more sympathetic to the ship you mention than to reelo–but blowing every little ā€œclueā€ out of proportion and, worse, mocking people for disagreeing, that’s just being a conspiracy-theory hawking asshole.

I’m also reminded of the worst behaviors of zootarians from the ATLA fandom. This was another great ship that had a dedicated group of asshole shippers who insisted it HAD to be canon, that it was ALREADY canon, and, after the show ended, that it was ACTUALLY canon and they were ROBBED. To this day, almost a decade after the show ended and after we’ve had sequels featuring the actual main ship’s children and grandchildren, this contingent spreads conspiracy theories about a secret fourth season, the head writer being strongarmed by the producers and so forth.

It gives me all sorts of schadenfreude that there’s a significant overlap between disappointed Zitarians and reynos. So much for their infallible powers of analysis.

It poped in my tumblr app, so I hope you don’t mind If I add. With BBC Sherlock both writers admitted that they put those gay references

as jokes

cause they thought it was funny. So it’s fair to discuss the

queerbaiting. Also the general writing just went completely down the loo with last season, ratings dropped, many critics trashed it and the writers began to blame press, fans and even went into denial that ratings dropped. So it’s a bit different story.

It’s fine, I tried to disguise the spellings but I see the dark Tumblr magic is at work again. I don’t mean to imply the writers’ behavior in regards to JohnLock was good, except maybe with being clear (in vain, it turns out) that it was not happening. I only know of the whole mess from hearsay and a really long video which I didn’t fully watch, and according to those sources the show actually mocks the fans for trying to read some deeper meaning into it, for essentially trying to fix the writers’ mistakes. So I don’t expect much from the creative team, but treating gay references as a joke is a whole new low.

I am sympathetic to the ship itself as I said, it’s just the lengths some fans went to esp. in regards to mocking and being rude to other fans that I disagree with. The rational thing to do would have been to recognize the show, especially in later seasons, for the turd it was and drop it, or at least accept the pairing was not coming to pass and write copious amounts of fanfic. There was never any call for whipping up false hope and snapping at other fans.

i hope he had a bad day

the romantic drama is finn and rey being separated the entire movie

If we’re being super real, it’s probably FinnRose so they don’t have to ā€œā€ā€œburdenā€ā€œā€ Rey with a love interest (ie interracial relationship). Finn and Rose will fight on their mission and then come to respect and then love each other, calling it now.

That’s exactly Han x Leia tho..
