“In today’s unanimous decision, the Tennessee Supreme Court explained that, under state law, a life sentence is a determinate sentence of 60 years,” the court wrote. “However, the sixty-year sentence can be reduced by up to 15 percent, or 9 years, by earning various sentence credits (good behavior. & getting involved in prison based education programs while incarcerated) Therefore, the Supreme Court concluded that a defendant serving a life sentence for a first-degree murder committed on or after July 1, 1995, may be eligible for release after serving at least 51 years of the sentence.“

Cyntoia Brown was a 16 yr old girl, who at the time of the incident was living in a room at a Nashville InTown Suites with Allen (the man who propositioned her for sex) because her pimp and boyfriend Garion McGlothen, nick-named “Kut Throat,” insisted that she needed to earn money.
After Allen took her to his house, he showed Cyntoia multiple guns, including shotguns and rifles. Later in bed, as she described in court, he grabbed her violently by the genitals, his demeanor became threatening and, fearing for her life, she took a gun out of her purse and shot him.

I just checked myself and a bunch of blogs I follow or who follow me – while I appear to be fine, about half of y’all I checked are incorrectly flagged as explicit. Those of you flagged as explicit aren’t showing up on my dash, so you may want to look into that.
I’m okay, I don’t really pay attention to NSFW stuff, but sharing this for others to be able to check. (and geez I’ve had this Tumblr since 2012?)
huh. turns out i was flagged. i sent a report. it’s kinda classic how you need a third party site to find out whether your blog’s been marked explicit.
Before you send a report, go into your settings, scroll down the right-hand side and click on your icon. Near the bottom is an option that says “yourblog is explicit” uncheck that little box and THEN go to postlimit.com and it will say you are okay! When I first checked it had a red “yes” on the explicit box, after I changed my settings it was all good. If I remember right, a lot of us specified our blogs were ADULT in an attempt to keep the damn kids off our lawns!

Everyone going shopping on Black Friday, be aware of three things:
The retail workers are working 12 hours shifts. We are threatened with losing our jobs if we don’t show up unless we’re dying in the hospital. I had an assistant manager show up with fucking strep because he would’ve been fired otherwise. Yes, he did infect 7 and hospitalize 2 coworkers; who knows how many members of the public he infected.
The stores have, maybe, 5 of that special cheap thing you’re after. Corporate does this on purpose, and stores are not allowed to order enough. The prices aren’t even that much lower. They lie about how expensive something is to fool you into thinking you’re getting a discount. You aren’t.
Most of the workers you will come across will be new hires for the sole purpose of being bodies for about three months before they’re fired. They actually don’t know anything because they’ve been working there for maybe two weeks, and have had no real training. I was once hired at Staples a week before Black Friday and expected to know how to deal with phones, coupons, the online ordering site, and AS400 after five 6-hour shifts. This is the kind of person you will likely be dealing with at Black Friday.
Do me and my retail family a favor and don’t shop Black Friday. Any company that needs a sale day like Black Friday to get their sales out of the red doesn’t deserve to be in business.
This also goes for anyone that works shipment too. We’re suddenly expected to stay as late as they want you to even if they know you don’t have a car and rely on a ride to get you to and from work and know you can’t stay late. Shipment workers will suddenly start getting berated for not getting things done and it is by far the most stressful time to be a shipment worker for any store. Especially when they throw in new hires that don’t know how to process things and are expected to work at the same pace as the people that have worked there for a while.

I was gonna put this in the tags but it seems relevant.
Try to be super super kind to any service worker in the holiday season. I’ve worked in both retail and foodservice over the holidays, and Thanksgiving and Christmas are the worst times for both. I refuse to decorate for Christmas anymore because of it.
So over the holidays, remember that if you’re gonna be shopping, or taking your family of 10 out to eat, or meeting all your high school friends for coffee, or whatever, to be extra nice to your workers (and tip very well, if applicable). Because a lot of people forget how bad it gets for foodservice workers in this season, and people always need a reminder to be nice to retail workers
The 2019 ACA (Affordable Care Act) enrollment period has been shortened from 90 days to 45 days (November 1-December 15, 2018) and the advertising budget to promote open enrollment has been slashed in an effort to sabotage the program. You’re probably not seeing a lot of advertising (read: zero) about the enrollment window online or on TV.
