How would Finn, Rey, Poe, & Rose react to finding Earth, with it’s diverse life and biomes? How would Kylo & Hux try to exploit it?

I imagine they’d all be amazed at finding a planet that DOESN’T have a planetary monoclimate 😂 The prevalence of that trope in SW amuses me and annoys me at the same time. I’d imagine the Rebels would want to fly around, explore, and study it for useful resources and just for the sheer joy of exploring, and try to make contact with any sentient lifeforms that might guide them around the planet and be potential allies.

I think the FO would have a more strip-mine-and-move-on approach where they immediately try to take all the available resources by the most efficient means, frakking on a planetary scale for minerals and so on. Since the planet is friendly to human life (some newly-poisoned rivers notwithstanding) they might want to set up a more permanent central base for the system from which they could mine the other planets.

If they discovered Reddit, the Resistance and First Order would call a truce and blow us up tho

When two people are in love with each other

They will desire each other

Laugh with each other

Fear for the other’s safety

Be there for the other

Fight for the other

Cry for the other

Worry for the other

Long for the other

Pine for the other

But most importantly, when two people are in love with each other, it’s impossible not to see it and the pair will make it as obvious as the sky above.

You really had to make me cry huh

You know Boba really hates Mace Windu for killing his dad but he should also hate Obi-Wan for coming to Kamino in the first place. Also, remember when Obi-Wan was Rako Hardeen and he ran into Boba in prison? I wonder if Obi-Wan recognized him and thought, “This kid again?”

And Boba didn’t get revenge on any of them lol. Ironically he has worked with Vader who was responsible for both Windu’s and Kenobi’s deaths, the enemy of my enemies is my friend and all?

Also I have him hating Anakin too because he was there and a big part of why Kenobi went to Kamino. He’s shocked and pissed when he finds out who Vader is

Man can’t catch a break 😂

My mom had this theory that I’m not really happy about but cold sort of see happening and I wondered your feelings in it. She grew up with SW, she was 3 when ANH came out and she loved the prequels. She said that for this trilogy the subversion of expectations Rian Johnson talked about is already playing out in TFA and will in IX. She says she think Poe is the new Han, but quietly force sensitive like Leia was. Rey is the new Leia but a Jedi warrior like Luke was. Finn is the New Luke but

not force sensitive. But this time the Han and Leia par 2 don’t get together, the Luke and Leia part 2 get together keeping the one SW romance thing constant, a force sensitive in love with a non force sensitive. I have to admit I could see things going that way but I don’t really like the idea of Finn with no powers especially since Poe didn’t seem to have them and now he does, just like Holdo. Wondering what you think?

I believe an emerging theme in the sequels is that the Force is in everyone and belongs to everyone, not just a powerful few. Leia’s confirmation in the Poe Dameron comic that Poe has a form of Force sesitivity but that the Force is also in everyone, the reveal of Rey’s parentage in TLJ and Broom Boy, all seem to be saying that the Force is not some exclusive thing, certainly not exclusive to a bloodline.

I mean, I do have issues with the retcon that the Skywalkers were ever thought of as this super-powerful elite bloodline, that’s a fandom concept and not canon. But I do see the intent, even if I disagree with the execution.

So if the franchise is going to be consistent with the direction they’re setting up, hopefully the whole dichotomy between Force users/non-Force users will become moot. The OT frame, then, would not apply to the ST. I am pleased that your mother thinks Finnrey is happening, though. Fingers crossed!

It makes no narrative sense in TFA to let Finn ever have the lightsaber unless he was meant to be a Jedi as well.

Why? Because it is only given to him after Rey has her Force vision, we – the audience – already know she has the Force at this point so pulling in a second character – Finn – makes no narrative sense unless he was meant to be a Jedi as well.

It makes even less sense for Maz to tell him to fight with it as he had a blaster rifle moments before this sequence, so he did have a weapon but the story strips it from him without any explanation to give him the lightsaber. A Jedi’s weapon.

So all marketing aside. It makes no sense in the story for Finn to fight with the lightsaber, to purposefully be given it, if he was never intended for the Jedi’s or a Force users, path.

Another thing is when Maz gives Finn the lightsaber she does not tell him what to do with it, such as give it to Rey or Luke or whatever, she simply gives it to him

Exactly!

When Maz hands the lightsaber to Finn she says, “Take this, find your friend”. Find your friend and what? Protect her with it? Give it to her?

Again this happens after the Force back, so there’s no narrative value in the ambiguity if Finn doesn’t also have the Force. It would have taken JJ nothing to have the line go “Take this, find your friend and give it to her” if that was what was the intention the whole time, because the mystery of Rey’s Force sensitivity is pretty much already resolved for all but the densest of the audience.

So to all that goes “well it’s the marketing’s fault everyone thinks Finn has the Force when he doesn’t”. No, it isn’t. Sure it isn’t helping, but this is 100% the story’s responsibility, if Finn wasn’t intended as a Jedi this narrative misleading is completely and utterly pointless and downright cruel.

Browsing through Wookieepedia and found out Depa Billaba has a sister… with a completely different last name? Jedi aren’t allowed to get married, why do they have different names if they’re sisters? This is canon carried over from Legends.

I know of RL siblings with different last names, due to remarriages, blended families and so on. If Depa’s sister is not a Jedi, she could have changed her last name on marriage. And that’s to say nothing of what kind of naming customs different civilizations might have. Mace Windu for instance had a clan brother named Kar Vastor who does not seem to be his biological brother.

Jedi were allowed to get married under certain circumstances.

Ki-Adi-Mundi had 4 wives and 7 children due to the low birth rate of his species.

And if we’re talking Old Republic, Basttila married Revan and had a daughter with him.

And her daughter, Satele, would go on to have a son of her own.

There are special cases where Jedi married, just most of the time it was under special circumstances where the council approved.

Also, adoption? I mean, Luke Skywalker kept his name as it was, but nobody called his sister “Leia Skywalker”, rather than Organa, which was the name of her adoptive parents? (Dang, now I’m laughing at the concept of “Luke Lars”)

That too! Looking back I can’t believe Luke lived so openly right on Tatooine under the name Skywalker lol
