What are they doing hiring one lawyer for four co-defendants?! Is this how they go with cop cases? There are such serious conflict of interest issues with one attorney representing two or more co-defendants who may at any point want to testify against each other or strike a separate deal with the D.A.
I understand that cops in the U.S. are practically unprosecutable and that’s why they have the confidence to do this, especially when the case concerns the death of a Black boy they’re demonizing as a gangster. But does the New Jersey Bar Association have any Thoughts about clients being pressured to waive their objections to the conflict, potentially sacrificing more advantageous plea deals?
I guess not. Because again, they’re cops, and as long as they don’t turn on each other they’re bulletproof. I bet they’re plenty happy customers too. Now I think Latrice had the right idea and Jablonski at least should have been made to pay with a bullet between the eyes. It looks like the only way anyone can get justice against police in the U.S.

And he’s not even giving her a deep speech about how that’s nonsense?
Apparently he does, he views her as a victim who he couldn’t save (again her primary purpose in this movie is for Han to “save” her), but she ends up leaving him in the end because she doesn’t feel worthy of his love. Instead of, you know, a storyline where they could have actually given a female character agency and had her been an ambitious career woman who prioritized climbing up the crime syndicate ladder over her relationship with Han, they made her a kidnaping victim/sex slave who only leaves the male hero because she doesn’t deserve him now that she’s no longer pure.
Upon reading the spoilers, it actually really comes off like LFL/Kasdan were catering to the dudebros who worship Han as a masculine hero who would be upset at him being dumped by an ambitious career woman. “The only way a woman could choose not to be with Han is if she doesn’t think she deserves him!”

In most cases racist and misogynists like Rian and the Russo
brothers can avoid having to deal with this through their writing and
casting, but in both the cases of TLJ and IW they had a lot of the
foundation forced upon as the de facto state (Finn is Black, Poe is
latino, T’Challa is Black, Gamora is played by a Black woman and so on)
and they kinda have to be part of the story. But none of these men know
how to deal with that or are interested in learning, so we get TLJ and
IW instead 2/2
That makes sense–the very biases that would have rationalized their decision to exclude women and POC would come out in big ways when they have to cast existing female characters and characters of color. Hence the sidelining and what looks to me like outright hate, destroying their prior triumphs and acting like it’s the height of artistry to have them die en masse horribly on screen. Not that I think Gamora for instance was ever treated that well in her prior movies, but this movie’s treatment sounds like another level of hideous.
Then there’s the extra special mix of racism, fetishization, and misogyny that is Rian Russo, who actually made a new character that he insisted had to be a woman of color only to make her every awful stereotype imaginable and fridge her sister horribly in the bargain. I hope he goes to hell for that. 🙂

So correct me if I’m wrong, but it’s my understanding the Stone could be destroyed–except, without the help of Wakandan technology, it would kill Vision. So yeah the whole Wakanda detour sounds like it was more about saving Vision than the universe lol.
Also, racism in media seldom manifests that explicitly. By your metric no work would be racist except maybe Birth of a Nation. Yes, there may be plot reasons for it (though pretty flimsy in the case of Wakanda), but the end result is that the audience got to see a whole lot of Black people die on screen, and a country set up as a shining beacon of Black excellence was wrecked in the very next movie. I find that distasteful as hell and people have every right to be upset.
Sounds like the anon needs to be acquainted with the “Thermian argument.” Fiction doesn’t exist in a vacuum, but is created in a world with pre-existing biases. Wakanda was conceived as an African utopia unspoiled by foreign intervention – so to reduce them to a convenient source of tools for the white heroes and as cannon fodder to cheaply establish the villain’s “power” is a grim reflection of how colonists continue to treat dark-skinned folk IRL…
