Recent asks roundup

Since there’s no need to clutter up this blog with even more of the same I’ll put recent asks in this post under the cut. If you want to be answered in a separate post fucking work for it.

@igbaddiejohnboyega Demanding a yes/no answer while willfully ignoring the fact that the word has usage and associations that I am emphatically against? Ignoring the answers that have already been given? Just another day on Tumblr, I guess.

@lunaaltare Ah yes, because after years of fandom blogging I do not know basic canon facts. What part of my saying that I don’t endorse this pairing, and that my one attempt to envision something like an endgame for them was OOC and a failure in retrospect, don’t you understand? Right, you never read the posts I linked because you’d rather jump to conclusions based on distorted hearsay from your friends.

@strongwilltm I’m still failing to see how yelling at someone and calling them names for curating their own inbox is not bitchy behavior. I didn’t apologize for calling her a bitch lmaoooo basic reading comprehension fail. I corrected my own mistake that I made when I answered her, but she still acted like a bitch and a bully when she called me a coward for saying I will delete repeat asks. Get that distinction? It’s interesting that she gets to call me a coward and a bitch with impunity but when I call her a bitch back, it’s racism.

Not only does your reading comprehension fail but you fail basic timeline, too. The two pieces of content I produced are both over a year old, it’s not “ALL OF A SUDDEN.” I mentioned them in passing, someone asked about it, and in the interest of full disclosure I linked and discussed them. The two posts didn’t get 20 notes between them (though the video prompted a couple of positive asks) and would not be an issue to this day if I hadn’t been honest and open about them. What betrayal?

@imagine-mystrade See above, I misled no one and it’s the exact opposite of misleading that started this mess. I removed the two pieces of your Finnrey art from my blog, plus one text post of yours I reblogged. I’m keeping a couple of posts where you happen to be in the reblog chain, plus your earlier ask since it’s a matter of record about this whole shitstorm. Let me know if there’s any art I missed, since Tumblr search can be a mess.

@rebelspies I was up front, that’s exactly what you’re mad at me about 😂😂😂

I’m not sure how Wending tweeted but he clearly took J*mes G*nn’s defense. That JG was treated unfairly. When that’s not the case. JG was gross. Misogynistic, racist, homophobic and down right horrible with the rape jokes. Just bc the alt-right were the one that brought up the tweets doesn’t change the fact JG did them.

If anything it shows how alike leftist and right-wing dudes are under the hood when it comes to things like misogyny and rape culture.

I’m a white agnostic in a white roman catholic yet secular society. My objection to religion has to do with homophobia, transphobia, racism and misogyny. I can’t follow an organisation that treats the lgbt+ community as evil and women and poc as lesser. But i respect faith. I just can’t have it. If God does exist, how does he allow the world to be such garbage? That’s my issue with religion. But others can have faith and practice religion. (1/2)

However, my province (Quebec, Canada) is using its secularism to
propagate this idea that following religion is bad. That ppl shouldn’t
wear religious signs bc it’s ostentatious (yes it’s the actual word
used). There was even a chart to remove all “ostentatious signs” yet
keeping the cross at the National Assembly for historic reasons (which
is bs bc Maurice Duplessi put it in the 50s to assert his power and the
closeness of the state with the church). (2/3)

The closeness of the state with the church was a real issue bc
the church was telling ppl who to vote for and was pushing religious
ideas in homes. (Women should have more kids) This lead to secularism in
the 60s. But since then, ppl have been using secularism to be
xenophobic towards non Christians. Towards muslims and Sikhs, not making
the difference between the two. And now with a right wing populist
government in power, the talk to remove all signs in public jobs (¾)

(e.g. teachers or doctors can’t wear hijabs or turbans). It’s
always followed with a “if they want to live here, they have to follow
our values. If they’re not happy, they should go back where they’re
from.” So no, secularism isn’t a solution. A secular state doesn’t make a
more welcoming society. It’s just using another tactic to be
xenophobic. (4/4 sorry it got long, i have a lot to say about the white
nationalism of my province)

Yup, I certainly don’t exempt religious institutions and people from being bigoted and hateful. I had my own objection to homophobia and bigotry that led me to leaving church, after all. (But not Christianity as a spirituality, despite not believing in God. I consider myself a follower of Jesus’s teachings, I just don’t believe he was God. No more God than everyone else, anyway.) My issue is with so-called secularists who pull the kind of shit you’re describing–selective secularism that is not only objectionable in the first place for being unjustified attacks on personal liberty, but also constitute very thinly disguised xenophobia and assimilationism as well. It’s why I deeply dislike New Atheism/movement atheism which gives cover to this sort of Islamophobia and racism.
