listen. fiction may be fiction, but fiction is created by real, actual people and it has real, actual implications and consequences. fiction does not exist in a bubble of “it doesn’t really matter”, it has never existed in a bubble of “it doesn’t really matter”, and people being critical of fictional works for how they present real, actual things that really, actually happen is important.

“IT’S JUST FICTION” is not a fucking defense. it is not a good excuse. it has never been a good excuse. it will never be a good excuse. creations by real, actual people have real, actual implications in our real, actual world, and if people are critical of some work of fiction, there’s usually a pretty solid reason for that.

honestly why do some of y’all dislike finn skywalker.. if you’ve believed r/eysky for 2 years then finnsky may not be your favorite theory, which is absolutely fine, but there’s no reason for you to you know, dislike it because it’ll be a great thing if it really happens. if you think r/eysky will inspire a lot of women, you have to admit that finnsky will mean so much to black people too. and remember that no black person has ever played a skywalker while there are already three white brunette women in skywalkers. many finnskys are black also!

if you agree that finn being force sensitive is going to be awesome bc black characters who have such special ability are rare to see in media and will inspire many black kids who watch star wars (that’s also why many black people decided to watch tfa.. for jedi finn! which was a bait lmao), then what’s stopping you from liking finn, the black lead of the sequel trilogy, being legendary luke fucking skywalker’s son and getting the most important last name in the star wars universe? force sensitive finn skywalker will inspire black kids even more than finn just being force sensitive. if you don’t want to see that happens because you want a white person to be a skywalker instead.. think about how that’ll sound to others.
