It’s true (the other 20% includes the Black evangelicals – the Black Republicans like my late g-grandpop who committed to voting Republican till death because of Abraham Lincoln (right or wrong) have passed on, so the new Black Republicans are self made millionaires who look down on other Black people and, like, Kanye).

However, it’s not simply being a Republican that got Trump elected, it was white supremacy (which is not solely a Republican thing, it’s a racially isolated white thing).

Don’t believe it? Scandals like adultery and sexual harassment used to kill political careers. Even divorce used to be be a career killer, even for Dems.

So how did a twice divorced, pussy grabbing, ablesist, white nationalist man become president?

White supremacy, period. The white evangelicals (with some exceptions, to be fair), can accept things like adultery, sexual harassment, etc, as long as the platform is about making America white again, bringing back white factory/mining jobs, building a wall, and imprisoning Black citizens. Point blank. That’s why Trump won.

If a full on Socialist said white people and white people only would be gauranteed a living wage regardless of education, you better believe they would win. It’s easier to get away with blatant white supremacy when it’s dressed up as a meritocracy.

Trump isn’t Hitler, let’s be clear on that. But if Hitler were Republican and supported Trump, Trump would endorse him if he ran for governor. Then when it was discovered the Hitler was turning state prisons into concentration camps, Trump would defend him because Trump endorsed him and Trump is never wrong. Trump’s not evil, he’s amoral. Amoral people are not malicious, but they have no problem enabling evil people. For example, a certain Supreme Court nominee who’s proven himself untrustworthy

But on the bright side, if Hitler were a Democrat Trump would
tear into him endlessly… and the Democrats would defend him because
they don’t care how lousy their candidates are. (At this point,
Republicans don’t either, which is how Trump got elected in the first
place.) And because Trump’s outbursts are… less than credible… he’d
probably end up making Hitler look better and turn him into a martyr.

When Trump was elected, he was called a white supremacist. I
scoffed. Trump has no idea what that even means! Today, I still honestly
believe that… but now it’s the opposite of reassuring.

These anons seem to be from the same anon or are at least on the same theme, so I’ll consolidate them. I don’t see a lot of daylight between Trump being a cynical opportunist and him being a white supremacist. Supporting white supremacism for the sake of gaining power makes him a white supremacist. I know he’s been liberal on some issues, but white supremacism isn’t actually a right-left divide. Cosmetic differences aside, it’s a fundamental edifice of the political and social system of the U.S. and worldwide.

In April 1988, Wahlberg approached a middle-aged Vietnamese man named Thanh Lam on the street and, using a large wooden stick, bashed him over the head until he was knocked unconscious while calling him a “Vietnam fucking shit”. That same day, Wahlberg also attacked a second Vietnamese man named Hoa “Johnny” Trinh, punching him in the eye without provocation. According to court documents regarding these crimes, when Wahlberg was arrested later that night and returned to the scene of the first assault, he stated to police officers: “You don’t have to let him identify me, I’ll tell you now that’s the mother-fucker whose head I split open.”[17] Investigators also noted that Wahlberg “made numerous unsolicited racial statements about ‘gooks’ and ‘slant-eyed gooks’”.[18][19]

For these crimes, Wahlberg was charged with attempted murder, pleaded guilty to assault, and was sentenced to two years in Suffolk County Deer Island House of Correction. He ultimately served only 45 days of his sentence.“

What isn’t included here is that he said he didn’t feel guilty not because he ever apologized to the victims but because he did good onto others and himself. WHAT THE FUCK THOSE THAZ HAVE TO DO WITH THE RACIALIZED TRAUMA YOU BROUGHT ONTO YOUR VICTIMS ?
And then he tried to partition to be pardoned.

Once you chace children and call them slurs, once you beat up people just for not being white in a country that doesn’t actually belong to white people in the first place and then have the audacity to never acknowledge that or apologize you deserve to drop of a cliff head first.

The thing that baffles me about these whitewashed roles and roles of the like is that the movies keep bombing. And people keep telling them that’s why. And they aren’t listening to it. Like they obviously don’t care about morals or the harm they’re doing but they care about the almighty dollar and still won’t stop or even listen.

Money is just an excuse. White-led and whitewashed films can bomb all the time and Hollywood will keep making them, while films with nonwhite characters can be megahits and somehow there’s no money in them. The point has always been white supremacy, not profit. It’s about the color white, not the color green.

I know I’m probably not the only person who has noticed this but has anyone noticed that when a film is diverse or focuses on someone other than a white, cis, able-bodied, straight male, people want the film to fail?

I saw this with Wonder Woman and Black Panther specifically. I also remember seeing it with the Force Awakens. Like…films are notoriously white-centric. A vast chunk of film focuses on white males so why does it matter when a film doesn’t? Are white males really that fragile?

Mediocre white men know they don’t have anything going for them other than white maleness, so of course anything that doesn’t prioritize them is a threat.

I can’t speak for tv shows, but I watch a ton of movies and out of the last 15 films I watched, only one had an interracial couple. You’re still more likely to see what I’ve been calling a “matched pair” where two people of the same race end up together.

There is a type of racism where it’s okay to some people for different races to be together but not white people with a poc character. This still stems from the “white people are a superior race” mindset.

yes, the only difference now is that compared to a few years ago I can actually list some interracial pairings… 

And while I think it is very important to have interracial pairings in the media where both are POC I have absolutely noticed that in fandom spaces even obviously racist people had no problem declaring they ship an interracial pairing when both characters are POC but if one character is white the weird excuses suddenly begin as to why this white person has to be with another white character/or noone, and the character of colour with another character of colour/noone. It’s pretty clear POC are seen as more fitting with other POC in racist fandom spaces, while character of colour/white character seems to be a huge step or even unthinkable for many. 

Fandom likes to think that white supremacy is all white hoods and tiki torches when it’s actually something very ingrained in Western culture. The idea that approving of POC/POC IR but not white/POC IR is super progressive disregards history’s treatment of the latter.

If you look at anti-miscegenation laws in US history, they were specific to marriages, sex and procreation between a white person and a person of color, and was applied most aggressively to white/Black relationships. Those laws were specifically about not “tainting” the white race (and I’m not being histrionic when I saw that the same laws were upheld in Nazi Germany and Apartheid South Africa, applying specifically to relationships with a white person and a non-white person (including Jewish people)). Americans don’t like to think that our country is that white supremacist, but it, historically, is. And the effects of those laws influence modern American worldviews.

The main targets of these laws were Black men. Although the famous Loving vs Virginia case involved a white husband and Black wife, white men, historically, were less targeted; they were allowed to take whatever they wanted from Black women. There was no protection for Black women. White women, on the other hand, needed protection from Black men, and a Black man with a white woman was the ultimate abomination. Many lynchings of Black men were justified as protecting the sanctity of white women (even if the man had had neither assaulted nor had a consensual relationship with a white woman).

It goes deep. There’s an analogy that people still use today: A drop of sewage (black blood) in a vat of pure water (white blood) contaminates the water, while a drop of water in a vat of sewage is still sewage. (My mom is white – trust me, this analogy is still used).

Most people wouldn’t admit to believing that, but a 2016 study by the University of Washington (https://www.seattletimes.com/opinion/a-hidden-bias-toward-interracial-couples/) concluded that, while white students will say they’re all for interracial relationships, many implicitly react with “disgust” when shown photos of white/Black couples.

In one part of the study, participants were asked to categorize Black/white couples, same race couples, and animals:

We predicted that when interracial couples and animals were categorized together, the participants who were primed to feel disgusted would do the task faster. Instead, we found that all participants completed the task faster when interracial couples and animals were categorized using the same button (indicating implicit dehumanization).

tl;dr: Americans are socialized to implicitly find white/Black couples repellent, even after all these years, and that is strongly reflected in fandom patterns..
