Irene Bedard is a fantastic actor and deserves a much better Disney movie than Pocahontas. Here is Rey’s mother. I thought it would be a little convenient to have Rey’s style look too similar to a woman she only has her earliest memories of, so the design is mostly new, without too many ties to previous elements. It admittedly went more hip-hop than I was hoping for, but I kind of like it. Touches include a streak of red hair, something her culture does when going on expeditions. A medallion from her time as a Rebellion pilot, which Idrian mistakes for a Republic badge. And a hat, a little bit like Embo, but mostly original. Representative for Native Americans in Star Wars has been pretty much questionable coding and a few voices done by the amazing Cree Summer. I wanted to have an original, non-stereotypical design, while still making the drawing look “Star Wars,” but more from the uncharted territories. (Moth)

Another scene, this time of Ben fighting Finn to rescue Poe. I’m thinking this could lend some non-verbal storytelling about the hidden darkness of Ben and hidden morality in Finn. During the fight, Ben can be all-encompassingly focused on winning. Throughout the duel, one of the cannons on the slugslayer is activated by Ben, perhaps towards a planet or another ship. Finn drops everything to turn it off. This works as the distraction Ben needs to save Poe, and Finn gets a moment to try to minimize collateral damage. (Moth)

Eventually, Rey and Finn will need to split from Han. Perhaps Han will head to Kashyyyk and Rey and Finn will go to the planet where Finn was brainwashed. To take them there, Han recruits the help of two young merchants: Rose and Paige Tico. Rose is still a mechanic, except that comes up in the plot. She is the tech expert who helps find the way into the Galactic Union’s database, as well as the link to Finn’s original family. Paige is the pilot for the new crew, and does more than just die to inspire people.

Rose maintains a cynical outlook, especially with regards to the New Republic. However, she still has no hopes for the Mandalorians and the Galactic Union. Paige is more confident in the New Republic, mainly figures like Han and Leia. After getting the info, they debate about where to go next, and whether to get the info to Poe or try and expose the GU themselves. This serves to give a bit more diversity of dialogue, as well as bringing up the military industrial complex without hating on any of the characters. (Moth)

To wrap up the new main characters, an alternate take on Rey! Horrible art aside, I tried to make her look like Maisie Richardson-Sellers (maybe Daisy Ridley could play Korr Sella, and the role will be better than “woman dies horribly”). I loved your idea of Rey planet-hopping in search of her family, so I had her outfit reflect that. Her jumpsuit is kind of like a B-Wing pilot’s. Her belt is a TIE fighter pilot’s. Her staff is modified from a Geonosian spear. Also, she has a huge backpack, which is where, if the movie needed a bunch of Easter eggs, we would get references. The old training remote, one of Grievous’s hands, etc. etc.

reyahsokas:

since lucasfilm doesnt give a shit about consistency in canon anymore, that means anything can be canon, which means rey skywalker is canon, finn and rey are in love and married, poe is not straight, han and luke are alive and well, kylo ren is dead, snoke doesnt exist, and rey and ahsoka tano are bffs
