I’m 100% sure that Kylo could murder a baby on screen with his lightsaber and Reylos would desperately try to explain how the baby was evil or something.

Pretty sure that means God is Black, since all modern humans are descended from Africans.
Tell that to Ariana Grande.
I’m not sure why it’s necessary but I hope it does well.
Was Rey’s drive to find out who her parents were? Her drive was to reunite with them, first by waiting for them in TFA, then by trying to see them through the Force in TLJ. I never got the sense that who they were was particularly important until she came out with the incongruous “They were nobody.” When did she ever think they were somebody? It seemed more a reaction to fan speculation–and Kylo’s own elitist obsession–than Rey’s actual story, which made it jarring.
At this point I’m hoping no one’s parentage is a plot point anymore. Let Kyle Ron be the one Organa-Solo-Skywalker and let him be taken down by “nobodies.” I still hope Finn will get to reunite with his parents, though, not because they’re important to the plot but because it’s what he wants.
2/2 There’s nothing about Rey really in the early stages, but
Finn seemed like a mix of Han and Luke rolled up into a Stormtrooper.
What if Finn originally was set to be the protagonist, but KK or whoever
decided they wanted Rey instead? Maybe due to John’s casting? I can
honestly think Rey was meant to be related to Han or Luke, but watching
TFA again…I really don’t think she was meant to be THE protagonist and
things were changed. I’m not even sure if she was supposed to be FS in
TFA.
3/3 And it’s nothing against Daisy or Rey. I love them both, but
I just can’t help think Rey’s 2 film mystery arc would have been better
off in a co protagonist roll, so she didn’t have to hold both while
allowing to let Finn the urgency he lost near the end of TFA. I think
they’re both equals, but I can’t help feel Finn was brought down
unnecessarily.
I’ve been arguing for a while that Rey is not the protagonist of TFA and possibly not even a protagonist (link). I’m not the only person who’s commented that Finn’s arc is stronger and more integrated with the story in TFA and Rey’s seems more of an afterthought. And then we see Finn used as bait at the end and Rey having more of a protagonist’s arc in TLJ alongside Kylo Ren’s villain’s journey, while Finn gets a weak and tacked-on C plot.
Honestly it makes me sick and I sometimes wonder if I’m kidding myself that JJ is going to turn this around. We talk about TLJ as the anomaly but arguably Finn’s demotion began earlier when he started with a strong arc in TFA only to have it become, abruptly and jarringly, the Rey Show at the end.
Chewie: [growls]
Han: Is that right?
Chewie: [growls]
Han: Huh. So what’s your name?
Chewie: [normal voice] Chewbacca.
Aww, that’s cute!
Yeah it’s the fact that people not only see white cis male as the default of humanity that’s irks me. To visualize God that way out of inertia is one thing, but to aggressively defend it is quite another.
OIC so not religious corruption per se! The artists who were celebrated that night are talented and worthy of support of course, but the whole system was built on mutual backslapping and self-congratulatory bs that many creators have to play along with. To think calling God “her” was the most offensive part of that post…lol.
