Johnson’s cinematography in a nutshell: Cobbling together stuff from much better creators without understanding their meaning and what made them good in the first place.

Hi, It not a question per se – I just need to get it off my chest. I was browsing a blog and BAM! right in mhy face – a r/lo rape art with the guardians holding her down in front of Snoke. I’ve seen a lot of twisted fandom shit but I felt just physically sick back then. I know people have the right to create and publish their shit but wtf has to be wrong with people to create and share this kind of content. Thx 4 listening,eh.
Holy shit I hope they tagged it properly so minors and people who don’t want to see that shit can filter.
Jon Kasdan is defending his script of Solo on twitter and being like “Thandie Newton is amazing, maybe that’s why Val’s death looks bad etc…” that’s not a good excuse when they still decided to kill a black woman after 5 minutes. Fans has the right to be angry about it. I remember when he made a terrible joke about pansexual, so it’s not the first time he is like that
Both Kasdans are awful lmao
So ok, the Star Wars fandom is racist. General lack of interest in the ST heroes trace back to internalized mysogyny and racism. All right. Where do we go from here as a community? Bc I don’t think shaming works when it comes to convincing anyone they should get on board with characters that don’t appeal to them. I think that right now the best we can hope for is JJ making Finn so vital to the A plot in IX that it’s literally impossible to erase him or sideline him in converstions.
I think the only thing we can do, if we choose to stay in the fandom (and many have not, which is sad but understandable) is to keep talking about fandom racism and boosting these wonderful characters as fans. We can cultivate fandom spaces where characters of color are celebrated, even if the fandom at large keeps ignoring them and shitting on them. There’s no need to shame or coerce anyone, obviously–we can enjoy ourselves and love these characters as fans.
Maybe JJ can give Finn his due enough for more people to finally realize he is the male lead, but those who are determined to ignore him will never come around. That’s their loss: At least we’ll be here to enjoy it if Finn’s role in IX is awesome.
I already saw reylo mocking at the english of some latinos and it’s disgusting. They probably think they’re too smart than people who are learning that language
Ugh I can’t even. Why are reylows so horrible?
Some pro-lifers hold an embryo the same as a more developed fetus the same as a child. Others believe there is a point, very early in the pregnancy, where the fetus has not achieved personhood and abortion is morally permissible. I’m of the second. But there is no excuse for aborting in the third trimester. I was born prematurely. According to many pro-choicers, I could have been hypothetically terminated on the day of my non-hypothetical birth if I had hypothetically still been in the womb.
Be careful about throwing around blanket statements like “there is no excuse for aborting in the third trimester.” It makes you look ignorant, heartless, or both. Abortions in the second (not third) trimester and later account for 0.2% to 2% of abortions depending on the region (link), and third-trimester abortions are so rare that there are not even large-scale statistics for them.
When they do happen late-term abortions, especially in the third trimester, are often terminations of deeply wanted pregnancies for medical reasons, such as the life of the pregnant person or a serious fetal condition. You’re talking about people who were picking out baby names and decorating the nursery, same as I was doing late in my pregnancy. Their grief is often devastating. Are you seriously going to tell these people to their faces that they had “no excuse?“
In fact I seriously hope you’re speaking from a place of deep ignorance because otherwise you are one heartless asshole. The specter of a large number of pregnant people aborting willy-nilly in the third trimester because they changed their minds is a misogynistic lie made up to demonize people who get abortions, most of whom are women. Please don’t subscribe to it or perpetuate it.

I found TLJ’s new characters pretty bland. Rose and Paige’s names were too real-world (even in a franchise with Owens and Finns and Poes and Lukes) and Holdo’s purple hair and grey dress was just a blah design choice and everything about DJ except his philosophy was unmemorable. I just saw Benicio Del Toro, not a Star Wars character. And a poorly applied Del Toro at that. He’s done way better. But then again so have Dern and Tran. Not familiar with NTV’s work but by default I’d assume the same.
They got all these super talented actors and did so little with them. What a waste.
twitter*com/ashlinthejedi/status/1041064269641658369 did i hallucinate kyle ron throwing her into a tree and mind-raping her? poe’s impulsive but as far as i know has never treated anyone he genuinely cares for (finn, leia) like shit so this makes no sense to me???

[Twitter user Ashlin! @/psykylogist Poe Dameron is actually a living anarchist and y’all insist that he’d treat Rey better than Ben? The only thing that man has higher than Ben is his kill count…]

I like how they think “anarchist” is some kind of count against his character. Maybe they’re using it interchangeably with “terrorist?” (Terrorism and extremism are common talking points against Poe, I wonnnnder why.) I may not like Doomerey but I do enjoy how hilariously threatened Reylows are by it, maybe because it’s still better than their ship despite being a whole lot of nothing. It used to be Finn they used to accuse of killing more people than Benny, funny how it’s Poe they’re attacking now.
For extra amusement points watch this person being torn apart in their own comments section and get all pissy 😂
I hated the Roshomon sequence. It rubbed me a very wrong way. When I first heard Star Wars was doing flashbacks as a TFA rumor I was worried, but luckily it was in-universe, via a Force vision that made sense in the story. Star Wars has never resorted to a true flashback (besides in Rogue One) and I absolutely hated seeing one onscreen no less than three times in the eighth saga episode because THAT’S NOT HOW WE DO THINGS RIAN
In so many ways TLJ didn’t feel like SW. Not in a good way, unfortunately.
