It just makes Anakin, Obi-Wan and the others look uncaring for not helping out with the war lmao

I’m wondering if people are not counting FN-2187 as “Finn” merchandise? Because there’s still plenty of stuff with the bloodied helmet on it but less stuff with him as Finn. Just a thought.
That’s possible, but it still seems weird that there’s so much stuff with Finn as a Stormtrooper when his character for the past two movies has been defined by rejecting being a Stormtrooper.
You know, I don’t even like Reylo, but the contrarian in me now wants to write a story of that nature that does treat Finn properly, somehow, because someone said it couldn’t be done.
Hey, you do you. I could personally imagine it happening, for instance if Finnpoe were the main ship and reylow were in the background with a sincerely repentant Ben in a complicated prison romance with Rey. If there is sincere reckoning with Kylo Ren’s crimes and how Rey would navigate that while staying true to herself and her friends, I could see it working out without destroying the characterization. The problem with the reylow fandom as it currently exists is that such reckoning is pretty much nonexistent.
I’m writing a video essay about how some fans (usually straight white women) would rather ship an abusive all-white relationship than a canonical, loving interracial one. So far I have Loki over Valkyrie for Thor, Negan over Michonne for Rick (TWD), Killer Frost over Iris for Barry (Flash), and Kylo over Finn for Rey. Do you know of any other considerable ships that follow this pattern? (Moth)
I think you’ve covered the ones I know of. Anyone else have examples of this shipping pattern?
Ummm, someone just did something on this. Poe DOES have more merch than Finn. Apparently the person with the least amount of merch is Rose, which sadly isn’t surprising given the unpopularity of the character, but the person with the second-least amount is Finn, which makes no sense. If the point is Poe, Finn, etc have much less merch than Kylo, that is true, but it’s not accurate to say Poe has less merch overall than Finn, because no. Generally if they want a light side guy they’ll use Poe.
I’m having a hard time checking out this claim because there are so many different outlets and categories that I hardly know where to start. But if true, it’s disturbing.
I think it’s incredibly difficult to give a definitive answer to that claim. I’m not saying it isn’t true, it very well could be but to actually discuss this matter, we’d somehow have to get our hands on a list of merchandise items divided by characters or make one ourselves, truly digging it up by hand. I’d be very interested in the result and maybe also would like to see which type of merch features Finn and which type rather features Poe. Or truly check this for all characters.Sadly I fear this would take ages and I don’t think anyone has the time to do this. (or maybe we all don’t even have the resources)
When I reviewed the merchandise that Disney sells online and at there parks Poe technically has more merchandise than Finn. I say technically because the merchandise isn’t Poe himself but his ship and outfit that’s really just a regular resistance pilot suit with his name thrown on it. Even with these added items it’s not that much more versus say captain phasma. Who gets way more merchandise but that’s mainly because people like her design.
Poe no matter how much some people want or may worry isn’t going to outshine Finn in the merchandise or the film department. Also just checked out Walmart’s website and Finn merchandise outweighs Poe. An agian just like on the Disney’s sight a lot of Poe merchandise is ships and resistance gear. While I may not like how Disney treats Finn he’s doing very good outside the parks which is better when you really think about it.
Oh another rec is Children of the Sea which is a really beautiful manga. It’s also the only Manga I know with a black protagonist so that definitely sets it apart!

Oh my god look at that style! Definitely one to catch up on.
Can’t confirm the other stuff but I posted at the time in my old blog that I worked at a party city and asked my boss why we were stocking damerey couples. I would have expected reylo couples before that tbh. We had a couple of finn kiddies (kid costumes) and some solo adult Reys but no finnrey couples and no rey kiddies. This was Halloween 2016. We sold zero damerey couples and a few rey solos (someone asked us if there were solo adult finns they could buy and they could on the website.)
After I asked my boss why we even stocked damerey couples since
they didn’t even talk in the film and he didn’t believe me that trey
didn’t until one of male coworkers came and confirmed it. Then he said
he didn’t know that’s what he was sent and he assumed it was because
they were a couple in the movie. So for a while now at least
merchandisers have been pushing poe and rey together.
I guess someone thought Finn and Rey together was just too Uncomfortable™ for Reasons?
When they’re done with BATB & all of the other Disney princess movies, how long do you think until reylos will start writing Shrek stuff?
They’ve been harping on BATB for three years, do they even know other animated movies
reyl0 say that Kylo treats women equally and Finn & Poe doesn’t respect women (“why Finn thinks Rey need his help all the time?” “Poe was sexist to Holdo!”)
Yet isn’t it a part of their talking point that Kylo treated Rey differently from Poe and that’s why he must lurve her?
I think there’s a distinction being missed in some of the conversations. Lead does not necessarily equal protagonist. Kylo is a lead character (along with Rey, Finn, Poe) but he’s not the protagonist.
Lead character seems to be used largely interchangeably with protagonist, though. He is a major character and the main antagonist, sure, but I don’t think he counts as a lead.
