@heartandstride Thank you for asking! I’ve decided to write at least a little every day to get past a recent block and keep up a rhythm. I’ve written every day for the past four days or so–I really have to start keeping track–even if it was less than a hundred words, and I’m getting to a place where I’m excited to write again. I’m only about 14,000 words into the current draft (this is like my third first draft God help me), but I’m happy with the direction it’s going so far and the characters keep tossing me big and small surprises as always happens in writing. My goal is to finish the current draft by next June and there will be days when I can’t write or can only write a little, so I’m trying to go steady if not fast.

It’s the only Disney story that they can shoehorn (badly and painfully) into their assertion that abduction and mistreatment equal true lurve.
@rachelica9 Some reylows make that comparison too, and to be fair most of these are shippers who actually recognize how fucked up the dynamics are. There’s actually a reylow/Hunchback of Notre Dame mashup that got positive comments from shippers and non-shippers alike (link, G-slur in the video and general HoND problems). The shipper who gave me heebie-jeebies, though, was the one who insisted Frollo “loved” Esmeralda and talked like the relationship was a positive thing. To be so right and so wrong at the same time…

It’s very telling imho that the reylows are SO focused on BatB when JJ points out the deliberate parallel between TFA and Sleeping Beauty on TFA commentary. I mean JJ says Cinderella but he clearly means Sleeping Beauty as he’s talking about how the lightsaber is drawing Rey to it and that is a clear parallel to Aurora being drawn to the spinning wheel in Sleeping Beauty. Also the fact that JJ mixes up his basic Disney princesses should make it clear that he’s not making space versions of any.
Just because JJ mentioned fairytales in the DVD commentary a couple of times they think he’s going to copy the Disney classics wholesale sdksdgk
