I ship reylo. I agree with you that the Poe = Gaston stuff is stupid as hell. But it’s weird you’re a self professed Finn fan and not pissed that Poe is overtaking Finn as the lead. Or is that Rey fucking Poe in the Falcon your way of saying you give up on Finnrey? Don’t project your love of Poe and Rey onto us. Most of us still think Poe is gay. Also most of us thought Finn looked better in his outfit because it was more like Han’s so why is Poe the “handsome” one in your little scenario? 🤔

Oh my god your pathetic divide and conquer tactics 😂 First, Poe is not overtaking Finn as the lead in canon, and second, I have criticized fandom’s racist prioritization of Poe over Finn many times. And if you can’t tell that I was talking about reylows’ fear of doomerey (because many of you are too racist to even see Finn as a threat) and not my own shipping preference, then you’re seriously lacking in reading comprehension like most reylows. I have an entire #anti damerey tag, lmao.

Just because you’re so fragile and defensive that you can’t stan a character without tearing down perceived threats, don’t assume others are the same. I can like and defend Finn and Poe at the same time, thank you.

Am I the only person who saw no supposed sexual tension between Rey and Kylo? And I don’t particularly ship anyone with anyone. I agree with you that the purity stuff is overblown and Rey screwing Kylo wouldn’t have made him less of an evil asshole or made much of a difference one way or another, but I just don’t know what everyone is seeing that I’m not? Is it the thigh grab stuff? Which looked really weird and awkward to me? Something else?

My guess is it’s a socially ingrained reaction to seeing two young white people on screen together, because to me it doesn’t look any more sexual than Luke and Vader. I also have a suspicion that Daisy played Rey’s reactions as less romantic/sexual than in the script, of which the novelization provides an indication. The topless scene in the novelization could be interpreted as Rey feeling attracted to Kylo, but in the movie she looks more disgusted than anything.

I didn’t see anything suggesting attraction to Kylo in the shirtless scene. It was so uncomfortable. That whole arc is just weird, because it could have worked without the unnecessary fan service. Some of the choices, like Rey inexplicably wearing a full face of makeup to try and turn Kylo are really (IMO) sexist, suggesting the Rey herself thought she had to seduce Kylo to get him to help the resistance. It reminded me of old Bugs Bunny cartoons where Bugs would doll himself up as a lady to make Elmer Fudd do whatever he wanted. I just found it bizarre.

Like, Rian did create this weird sexual thing where Rey used her womanly wiles with Kylo, and it didn’t fit with the Rey we know. Kylo was creepy, and the idea that his display of exagerrated vulnerability = sex is equally creepy. Mark’s “naughty nephew” quote that Reylos love to repeat underscores the view that it was more creepy than the beginning of a great romance (easy to ignore when it’s been so far removed from Mark’s original twisted vocal inflection when he said it).

Anyway. The MOST confusing thing to me is that while Rian clearly likes the reylo aesthetic, TLJ ultimately shows that Rey had been manipulated and used and she had been wrong to think Kylo was some great hope just because of his lineage. Yet people are convinced it’s true love forever.

I still say the shirtless Kylo Ren scene was a polemic against sexiual harrassment generally and sending dick pics specifically.

Kylo isn’t particularly hot about the shirtless scene, either.  Isn’t Snoke in control of those connection moments?  Bet he did it as much to humiliate Kylo as to unsettle Rey.

I was gonna argue about Rey’s makeup but she’s had over a dozen years picking through warship wreckage to find a few bits and pieces, here and there, and I imagine her putting it on in her AT-AT shelter, feeling pretty and girlish for a few moments, trying to distract herself from her calloused life and her gnawing stomach.  Still doesn’t mean I noticed it in the theatre, though.

Kylo doesn’t learn Snoke is creating the communication link till later; and during this scene he declines to put his shirt on when Rey asks. Right away. As soon as she sees he’s not wearing one. While she’s covering her eyes.

Exactly! The point wasn’t that he was caught undressed, it was that be chose to use that state to cause her discomfort and assert his power.

What would be a likely ending for IX? A funeral? A wedding? A party on Lando’s ship? An award ceremony on Yavin IV/Batuu? A humble toast to fallen friends? R2-D2 & C-3PO telling the Star Wars saga to a group of aliens (Maybe humans on Earth)?

I want a Finnrey wedding but that’s just me 😂 A celebration party would be nice!

I’d love to see Finn and Rey just ride off into the sunset (stars) in the end

On the Millennium Falcon, for extra Reylow salt.
