WHY AM I BELEAGUERED BY R2 APOLOGISTS
I was talking with a friend who recently (within the past 2 weeks) saw TLJ for the first time. One thing she said she really had an issue was (I’m quoting her) “Rey and Poe flirting at the end” because she thought Finn and Rey were endgame. I told her not to worry about it because JJ Abrams wasn’t likely to go there. But looking at the TLJ novelization, that part was a big nothing, so I’m wondering why Daisy and Oscar played it that way? Is there a script available so I can see the direction?
I’m still amazed at the ability of viewers, both for and against Doomerey, to blow a literal “hi” out of all proportion. Poe and Rey saying hi is more romantic than Rey crying on Finn’s chest or her giving him a message we don’t know. Sigh.
A script with directions is not available for TLJ so far as I know, only transcripts of the dialogue.

the poe and rey meeting seemed totally normal to me from poe’s side (and it makes sense because oscar has straight up said he’s only acting romance out with finn), daisy is the one that played it weirdly. i don’t think they’re going to go there but i see it on daisy’s end. she does that weird typical shy grin looking down bashfully thing.
I mean I’m not totally discounting it, but it still seems like too much to extrapolate from “hi.” There are a lot of reasons someone can be bashful, including hero worship and meeting bbf (bae’s best friend).

Luke’s Jedi Temple looked like it had grass and fallen trees in the flashbacks. Maybe Ghost Luke guides Finn and Poe to the ruins to find some details on where they might find some allies. And along the way, Luke gives Finn his second lightsaber? I can hope, at least. (Moth)

I for one welcome this introduction of hobbits into the SW universe, hopefully with a lot of cool CG effects enabled by cutting-edge motion capture technology.
I’ve seen a lot of dumb bullshit in my time but I can safely say that I’ve never seen dumber bullshit than the recent spate of Poe bashing. The reaching. The … rlly? That’s the hill you wanna die on? k, I guess … of it. I’m not here for Finn hate ever but I can squint and see why Ren stans hate on him – he’s Rey’s true love, he’s the male protagonist and his arc covers the beats they want for Ben. Poe’s just there, being brave and good and dashing and snuggling droids. SMH.
They’re seeing enemies everywhere, believing Poe is a threat to their ship like Finn is. I mean there’s a reason they’re saying horrible shit like Poe touching Rey who is Ren’s “belonging” like the Millennial Falcon (link). They see how dashing and handsome Oscar looks as Poe and they’re scared.
